God, man! How many rigs do you have? It's like.. are you walking along the street, and think.. "hey, I think I'll buy this: http://www.lightfighter.com/index.asp?P ... trCompare=
"

Is that what it's like?!?! Cause if so.. I'm jealous.

No, actually I was playing in my first AA game, which happened to be a CQB event at the Cajun House.  I was using an LBT chest rig over PT armor and thought, "you know what, it sure would be nice to consolidate all this kit into one rig.  A cumberbund would be nice too, like the AWS vest."  I saw the RAV on LF and made up my mind.  I mentioned it to Hector (Raven1) who told me about Mark (stoneaglewolf) and how he can stich like a madman on a budget.  We talked, and used Raith Paraclete (read:  REAL!) RAV as a pattern for a non-releaseable Modular vest.  We changed a few of the dimensions, designed a few pouches, and I left Mark to do his work.  A few weeks later, I had my own rig just as I had imagined.  CAG D Boy got one in woodland, and I got Smoke Green.  I ended up selling it to some Japanese dude on ebay for a ridiculously high price.

Here's the funny thing- I DON'T HAVE THAT MUCH GEAR!  If you want to talk gearwhores, talk to TheRev, Airsofter1, and Raith!  I discuss gear.  They own it.  Betwwen the 3 of them, there's enough Cordura to span the globe three times over.  Airsofter1 had so many BHI pouches at once, it damn near filled a small office-sized room in his house!  No, seriously.

I was labeled as a gear whore from the start, due to the small ammount of knowledge I had on the subject.  In reality, the most gear I've ever had at once was a SPEAR BALCS, SOTech Hellcat and some other odds and ends.  You see, I like to buy quality, and I give it the "toolbox" approach - the right tool for the job.  Now that my gear is not only for airsoft, I put more though into it.  Gear failure sucks, especially if your life depends on it!  Buy quality gear and you will:
a) learn to appreciate it's quality when you use it.
b)  support gear manufacturers that don't suck.
c) never have to worry about it failing.
d) have no problem making your money back should you decide to sell it.  After all, the best way to learn about a rig is to buy one!  Ask busta.  Modular body armor may be cool, but isn't always practical in every situation.  I assume that's why he sold his G&P FSBE AAV replica.

About me being rich. . . naw!  I have to sell something in order to buy new.  That's where the quality issue comes into play, I always make my money back so I can put it towards my next rig! 8)

I got rid of that body armor because, it was ARMOR! It didn't flex well at all and I have a hard time getting around in it, no biggie, got rid of it and only lost about 20 bucks. The weesatch I have now fits me good and is very comfortable even when weighted down alot.

I picked up Ron's hellcat a few months ago and thought he had lead in there at first! The damn thing must have wieghed atleast 25 lbs without a hydro source.

I think I have too much gear for one wear. My bianchi holster is a belt holster, and no room for it on the webbing... obviously. And, on my right side, I have the SSE. So, I need the dropleg converter ( http://www.copsplus.com/prodnum2206.php ). This means.. MORE GEAR! Damn! And I just put most (not the hydro, or dropleg mag holder on) of my gear on.. pretty heavy. Not like 25lbs, but it's got to have a good weight to it. I'll need to practice.

Seriously.. anyone up for another hike? :-D

He's since added some Paraclete pouches, as I recall.  I know because they used to be mine, along with the 'cat.

I humped that rig for 2 days up and down the hills of Tehachepi without problem.  Heavy, but a rock solid setup!  Sure the straps are unpadded, but the are 2-inch "seatbelt" webbing, quite comfy!

So.. does everyone know that strap behind the vest? I believe you have one, AZSarge.. the one that goes around your back on the bottom of the vest. I'm finding out I'm too skinny for mine. It's all the way adjusted, and the thing still wobbles like crazy.. theres like.. 2 inches I need to take off. Is there a way I could get another strap, prefferably OD.. that's adjustable?

Nate, cut it and sew it back together, or have someone do it for you. I know Nate(phx) did something like that with his weesatch, hes smaller than you!

Damn you guys need to put on some wieght! Alright here is what you do...

1. Get a soldering iron and cut the rear strap in the middle, it will cauterize as you cut so no fraying

2. Grab a big ass needle and some poly thread and go to work, gap as much as you have to, or you could always go buy some more webbing.

The new production of hellcats, like what I have(got it in August) don't use the seatbelt material anymore, it is just 2inch Cordura, not as comfortable but still not bad, just takes some getting used to:)

Also studdermonkey,
I have the same problem, as do many people that wear the hellcat, since it is made to be worn over a plate carrier.
I just adjusted mine all the way tight, then overlapped the buckle and remaining strap and wrapped it in 100mph tape.  Ghetto, but it gets the job done.

Don't lump me in with those two... :P

All I have is a simple chest rig and a few pouches right now.  I have owned a fair bit of gear, but usually I sell it once I find something I like more.  True, if I had held onto everything, I'd have a huge pile.

Ok, but you have to admit that at one point you had a RAV, two MAVs (one Tan, one OD, both identically loaded out with Paraclete pouches), a Lightfighter RAID and some other goodies.  Quite a collection!

Besides, the fact that you own a REAL MS2000 qualifies you as a gearwhore. :P

Shut it. This here is 120-125 lbs of pure muscle! And are you saying cut through the webbing, and all? Cause, that'd suck. And I'd need someone else to do the sewing for me. I'm not a sewing person.. at all :-D

Just cinch it up as tight as they will get and tape the excess with some 100 MPH tape.  That's as high speed as it gets!  In addition, if you ever want to sell it, you won't have to worry about those mods you did to it.
