Giving some boots a shot

So here are a pair of boots that I've been wanting to try out for awhile. I finally broke down and bought them. My other boots which are Wellco's are great. No real complaints about them. I wanted something a little lighter and different.

Here's the New Boots. Bates M9.




Here's my old boots. Still a great boot with no real complaints. Very rugged.

Nice choice on the Bates.  I rock the Bates Durashock U.S.M.C. Hot-Weather Desert Boots and absolutely love them.

I have those exact boots...although I'm willing to bet a couple of sizes smaller.

I love them, the ankle support is great but at first seems too much..after a little break in I almost wanted to sleep in them.

I'm not so sure about durability as I have only wore them about 30 times, and only twice doing any running/hiking/leaping tall buildings in a single bound sort of stuff.

Cool without the use of any special socks
Comfortable after a very short break in
Durable?  No real idea yet.

I noticed the same thing about the ankle support (almost to much). I'm sure (like you said) after they break in they will be comfortable. But thats what I was looking for in the boot.

My Wellco's are an awesome boot, but the one problem I noticed a few time was, I came very close to the limit of rolling my ankles in some rough rocky terrain. The ankle support on the Wellco's is just merely the soft leather.

Were they difficult to break in?  Some boots take a couple of miles or soaked in water to break in and avoid the typical blisters you get with any new boot

I didn't attempt anything special to break them in.  Wore them to one airsoft game, hiked once and went to work multiple times(easy normal walking).
I'd say all in all I went about 4 or 5 miles in them before I felt a considerable change.
