Overseas guns
« on: February 08, 2007, 09:33:12 AM »
If you were to buy an AEG in Japan, a TM for instance, are they the same as we purchase online and have shipped over here?  I know a guy who bought an AEG and a pistol over in Tokyo.  He said that they don't have the orange tip, but I wonder if they are the same internally.  Would a stock TM still shoot below 280 FPS (or whatever)? :?

Yup, pretty much everything in Japan is going to be the same as shipped over here.  The retailers PAINT on the orange tip.

On a side note, you might get a gun that shoots even slower from japan because of their new laws; the ones they keep in Japan have to be less than 1J or .98J or something like that, the ones they export can be over.

Depends on the company, but a lot are still not following the new guidelines.

In closing, you'll get the same gun, just have trades and a regular flashhider... if you want to bring them to the states, the flash hider will have to be orange, and the trades will have to be covered/removed.

Okay...cool.  I think he bought this a few years ago when he was in the service.  It's a TM CAR-15 and I presume it is still stock.  I know they are discontinued, but I've read there a pretty decent carbine and have a nice ROF.  A TBB and a 110 spring should do the job.

Most TM guns shoot 280 which is about 48 fps shy of 1J.  However their newer guns come already shooting 1J (TM M14 and on).  There are some slight differences when buying in Japan, you wont get a half english etc manual, you'll get the Japanese only manual, and you might get a different box.  Now going to HK would be a better trip if your going for Airsoft simply because of how cheap stuff is in their walk in stores.  (Stuff that costs us around 400 is around 250 or something crazy like that)

I think it's .86 joules at room temperature, or about 25 degrees Celcius.  Plus, they can't sell or have metal recievers in Japan, which sucks too.

He told me that this is a really heavy gun, so I assume the receiver is metal, but I will check it out next week.

Thanks for the input.

Hello,

Regular version 2 type upgrades will fit the Car-15 so any of our AEG
upgrade packages will work (other than the nozzle which is specific and not
available).  It can take any 14mm CCW type suppressors.  Thank you!
