"Galactica" Last Season Official

By Garth Franklin

It doesn't come as a surprise, but still it's disappointing to hear that the upcoming fourth season "Battlestar Galactica" will definitely be the last.

Stars Edward James Olmos and Katee Sackhoff told The IESB at the Saturn Awards Thursday night that the SciFi Channel will officially pull the plug on the show following its fourth season, which begins in January.

Olmos says "This will probably be the most extraordinary season of 'Battlestar'. It's the final season, so it's definitely going to be the most vicious. As far as we know, in respects of the way we have this show constructed, this is the final season."

Sackhoff says "I think part of the problem is that it's an expensive show. It is [a great show], but we don't have the viewership that a great show should get."

Maybe this means that this season, unlike the last (generally), will not be an unadulterated piece of shit, and closer to the first season in terms of it's awesomeness. A space opera needs equal parts space and opera, not the current formula of eight parts faggotry to two parts space to one part calfskin eyepatch (what the fuck, who gave Tigh that eyepatch, Pocahontas?).

I don't want to watch an hour of the OC on a spaceship with some CX4s and Five-seveN's in the mix.

I don't know how I'm going to be able to go on with life. This is simply terrible.

Well, I would say that I'm upset about the show being cancelled, but since I've only seen the first season, and it apparently got shitty after that, then maybe it's for the best.  Cancel the show to make them live up to the standards it started off with :D

I don't know why you guys hate the show so much.  It is a very interesting show with a well thought-out plot line with original dialogue and fantastic attention to detail.

I would love to see the OC on a spaceship.

Think about it, the finale would be amazing.  They would totally get in a fight and someone would shoot someone and "Hide and Seek" would kick in.

I figure it'd be good timing, there's been too many filler-type episodes and really, there's only so much you can do once you get close enough to Earth on a show like that.  Although an older colleague of mine did mention that the original series continued on for a bit on Earth.

I agree. This upcoming season should be the last. Even the best shows start to suck when they drag them out too long. The X-Files and 24 come to mind.

Even The Sopranos is starting to suck.

Tony banging some barely legal and doing peyote in Vegas?

I feel bad for the chicks in that show.

They must feel like a new porn starlet doing her first scene with Ron F'n Hedgehog Jeremy.

C'mon!

That's unfortunate -- I'd bet it still gets cancelled, but now the producers will have a story that ends without resolution, perhaps with the hopes of being wrapped up in a two pack of shitty made-for-TV movies.
