Give your AEG gas
« on: February 16, 2005, 11:38:27 AM »
For those who are tired of springs upgrades, gear upgrades, motors, batteries, etc., here's a site that will have gear box replacements that will use CO2 instead.  And its cheaper than a fully stocked, reinforced gear box to boot.  :)

I thought the development of the AEG was pushed to overcome the annoyances of gas (at least according to that Marui promotional video that circulated around a while back  :) ).  Seems this is going full circle.

Hope is the first step down the road of disappointment.
Only the awkward question; only the foolish ask twice.

I think in many ways I'd much rather have gas though.  Gas is much easier to work with in the long run than everything in a gear box.  At least in my opinion.  :)

Well why not just buy a KWC M16 right off the bat instead of spending $200 for a new gas gearbox assembly.

Because the $200 gas box drops right into place of the gear box.  If its extremely warm, I can always switch the two around again and go AEG in the hot climate.  I get the best of both worlds without having to buy another gun.  :)

Yes but it's not a 5 minute swap out.  I've found that the more you strip your gun down the more likely you are to break something.  And having a second gun as a back up doesn't hurt.

Yea, but in my case, I already do have a second gun.  One of the nice things about that gas box is that its 470fps out of the box.  You'd end up spending well over $200 just to get a gear box shooting that hard.  This is definitely a cheaper alternative to increased performance with easier upkeep.  Don't get me wrong, I'm not getting rid of my normal gearbox... just giving it a rest.  ;)

The KWC M-4 isn't badly priced, and I haven't heard anything bad about them.  They seem to be hard to find though.  I myself just don't like M-16 style weapons.  :)

If you read the product description you will notice that the FPS is 470 and it doesn't say what the BB weight is. So it could be good for sniping. Do you have to upgrade you hop up rubber to accommodate the higher velocity?

I e-mailed the company last night and this was their reply.
When we play our rules call for 400fps or lower is the pressure adjustable?
Yes, you can lower down the pressure
