I met an old timer at the range just a couple of days ago, who was convinced that the government would be coming for his guns in just a few more years.

He also said something about how Ill. and other states were making their own weapons ban laws. I have not heard of them doing any such thing lately.  He was convinced that they were trying to ban practically all long arms in Ill.  I said I could not see that happening, a lot of people hunt out there.  But he was adimant. . .   I really hope he is not correct though.

Sadly, he's correct.  CA has one (they will be unaffected by the AWB expiration), MD, GA and other states have a closely mirrored "AWB" on the state level that has been proposed (don't know about votes on it yet).  AZ will not get one - at least not for a long time.

Actually, Kali hasn't banned long arms.  They banned a wide range of semi-auto rifles with pistol grips though in what has to be one of the most ridiculous laws in the country next to what New Jersey and New York are capable of burping up.

I don't think anyone here said that CA banned long arms.  They have an "almost" mirror of the federal AWB without the sunset date, but it's also tighter in that you only get to have ONE "evil" feature unless you had that gun before their "registration date" and properly registered it.  CA, IL, NYC and NJ are probably the four worst states for firearm ownership.

"I don't think anyone here said that CA banned long arms."

Oh, sorry.  That is what it looked like you were getting at when you said "Sadly, he's correct. CA has one" in reply to his comment "He was convinced that they were trying to ban practically all long arms in Ill. I said I could not see that happening, a lot of people hunt out there. But he was adimant. . . I really hope he is not correct though."

I know all about MD...I grew up there.I moved from there when I was 17 and boy 'am I glad.I think it would take alot for AZ to pass laws like CA,etc. There are just to many good 'ol boys out here that would'nt let that happen. This is STILL the wild west and we like it that way!
