Aligning M4 free float handguard
« on: April 27, 2012, 11:33:43 AM »
Just got this handguard in today, and it looks like I need a barrel shim/spacer or something that is about 1/32" thick to align the barrel nut so that the handguard aligns properly.  How do you guys usually deal with this issue when it comes up?

Freefloat RIS systems usually come in three parts (the rails, the threads and a retaining ring) take it apart and line it up manually. If you have no clue how to do it take it to Gearbox and they can fix it

Yes, that is exactly what I got.  The problem is it is only misaligned by 3-10°.  I've got it pretty stable without the two alignment pins that keep the RIS inline with the delta ring, but I was just wondering if anybody knew a good place to buy barrels shims/spacers or something lol.

YES that is the exact thing I was looking for!  I saw some that were included with delta rings and such, but I already have a few extra delta rings to take up space in my parts drawer so I didnt want to get them that way
