Title: Operation Terror Shade, Oct 28th
Post by: warlock on June 02, 2006, 11:05:18 PM: Please note, I am not continuing the Innoculation series this year. It's time for something new and exciting, and in that spirit I give you Operation Terror Shade.

Team OPFOR, a part of TAC, is proud to present Operation: Terror Shade!

WHAT: Operation Terror Shade
WHEN: Saturday, October 28th 2006 from 1pm to 1am
WHERE: Sudden Impact, Marana AZ
WHO: YOU!

A 12-hour day-to-night operation, with moving bases, mobile respawning, and a brand-new style of gameplay that is now 4 months in the making. The main point is to keep the gaming fast-paced, intense, and ongoing. The game will start in the afternoon, and rage right on into the night.

Bomb disarmament, GPS Tracking, and more will be part of this operation (objectives may vary depending on which team you're on).

Bonus rounds: Compete in the single-elimination pistol ladder for a chance to win prizes, participate in the raffle to win some more equipment, or throw your hat in the ring for the $10 buy-in, winner-takes-all AEG shootout.

Please keep your eyes on this spot for updates as they happen. As we get into August I'll begin explaining the new gameplay style so we can all be clear on the parameters.

(Are we allowed to post sponsors of a game? Or would that violate some rules?)

Post by: Surplus man on June 04, 2006, 07:10:47 PM: dude there are OPFOR practices all the time at mt, and sudden impact is 10 min from tucson. sasco keeps jerking us around with thier private or public property status. im all for sasco but getting arrested on land that was public property a day before and losing my guns over it isnt my idea of a good time. but keep the eyes peeled on tac thats where tucson games usually spawn from.

btw this op sounds so sweet and imm be there.

We weren't sure who did it, and were not really even sure if it happened, acording to 2 of the US forces they said that it caught fire and they stopped the vehicle go out and put it out. Im not sure if it has been confirmed yet or not. Also keep in mind someone could have moved it.

Age limit: 14

Booby traps: These are allowed as long as the velocity is under 300 fps, and uses either an inert powder (like baby powder/talc) or airsoft rounds. 15' kill radius, line-of-sight. MUST BE NON-INCENDIARY (this rules out smoke grenades as well)

LAW-type weapons: Allowed, must shoot soft projectiles, and by soft I mean Nerf. 15' kill radius, line-of-sight. MUST BE NON-INCENDIARY.

Grenades: Allowed, 10' kill radius, line-of-sight. If you catch the grenade before it hits the ground, you can lob it back. (see above about smoke grenades and why they are not allowed)

I will also be going over these rules at the game to make sure we're all on the same page before we start.

Anything else?: Keep in mind, this is different from my previous games. Go means go, there is only one scenario, and there are no time limits. One scenario, multiple objectives. After the scenario is complete, we move on to the competition phase (winner-takes-all tournamet, etc), after which the game is over and done.

So that people who want to play arent waiting around for people to stand around and talk)can we keep reload time time between starts of missions kept to a minimum please? It doesnt take a half an hour to reload your guns, drink some water and be up and running. Half the people who show up can get all that done in less than 15 minutes, but on many ops they are waiting for the other half to get finished shooting the breeze. Can someone who is in charge of this op please organize this op a little better, or at least give a reason why it takes 35-50 minutes to get guns up at the start of ops and in between ops. Thank you

Considering this is not technically a TAC operation (I am not a member), I'm not sure if this game should count as how TAC runs things. We'll probably get a better glimpse of TACs op-running prowess if/when Pryde decides to have the sequel to last year's Thanksgiving game.

I always try to keep the downtime to an absolute minimum but I also try not to run the players into the ground. I like having everyone just slightly more rested after each scenario, it makes for more fierce battling. Not only that, it gives people time to adjust equipment if necessary, and the extra hydration time means people are more hydrated, resulting in less heat casualties.

Considering this is primarily a one-scenario deal that just goes on forever (bring your packs, you'll be reloading in the field!), I don't think downtime will present too much of an issue. The downtimes will be at the end, where we do the competition stuff. In the main scenario you will just update objectives and tactics on the fly.

I believe I've said it before but it does bear repeating: for the one or two voices who are usually complaining about downtime, there's typically 20 more who are grateful that they can actually catch a breath and grab a drink between scenarios. I run things the way I like them, and if anyone has any serious grievances with it, they are more than welcome to run their own games.

Enough on that subject.

Hi-caps are of course allowed, as are grenades. I've mentioned previously that landmines and boobytraps are allowed, as long as they are non-incendiary and use a powder instead of airsoft rounds. It will be mostly dark halfway through so everyone is encouraged to bring flashlights, tracer units, night vision, etc.

Other obvious things:

This is a LONG game, and you will probably get thirsty. Bring a canteen, bottle of water, whatever. I also highly suggest bringing some field-ready food like MREs or Powerbars. You could just go to the parking area to get your drink and grub on, but that's going to be a ways away from where most of the action is taking place.

I dont have any Tan camo, I do own a set of marpat and acu. All of my load bearing equipment was desigend for paintball. I do know an m4/15/16 mag fits perfectly in my camo side pockets.

That is actually 100% true. I'll be taking care of it this week. I've just been busy with a few things, personally and professionally. Why don't you try keeping everything in your life 100% squared away while recovering from getting brain surgery, which caused you to lose your primary means of employment, which caused a whole bunch of other dominoes to go rolling down the line. I realize you're not trying to bag on me here, I'm just clarifying. The money for SI is still where it's been this entire time, in an envelope waiting delivery. aNYONE THAT WANT TO CON CONFRIM WITH PBHQ FOR THEM SELF. i was shocked, truly knocked the air from me, and although i was not going, I had 'mates from here going to it and I knew it would affect the players form up north mostly.

It's just another day of drills for out team anyway, no loss for (me) but still made us sad to see it not happen for the rest of our fellow comrades in arms.

I aggree...but when is the last time warlock posted? I've seen maybe 2 or 3 in the last couple of weeks (the last being on the 21st and the 15th of this month) on this forum. so, he's really busy or just not posting.

he's pretty upstanding, but my concern is that he's not on top of this issue himself. nothing personal, but i'd like to know the "official" answer.

Dan said there is no game at Sudden Impact this weekend, and that Warlock never got in touch with him about us using the field for the game. The guy who posted was from PBHQ Dan had him post about the game because of the Phoenix players who called asking of the game was still on. Dan has no problems with us using the field we just need to give him notice.

I'll be the first to say it. I don't think the whole blame is Glenn's . Thie same thing happened when Reaver set up a game at the same field. PBHQ shafted us. My opinion, and I'll never walk into their shop again.

Anyone who's ever been to one of our (us being TAC as when it functioned as an organization) games KNOWS that we've run VERY successful games, even at SI. Glenn's games have a hell of a reputation of being damn good. FIFTEEN games in a row - OK maybe there were an occasional extended downtime - what prevented anyone from getting a pickup game going during the down? Nothing.

August 4th, I talked to Dan about this game, seeing as how I was scheduling it in for at least a month prior to that date. I remember because I told him Operation Midnight Madness (Team FE's game) was going to be on the 19th. That game also got thrown to the wind in the field schedule and a bunch of paintballers got in for a night game. August 4th makes it... somewhere around 11 weeks I called in advance.

HOWEVER, seeing how things turned out for Reaver/Team FE for their game, I should have stayed on top of the reservation for this game, and admittedly that was not the case here. So for that I will apologize.

I'm sincerely sorry to all the guys in Phoenix who were planning on coming down for this game. There were a few people looking forward to this game (including me), and I fear I've let everyone down pretty completely with this last twist of events. All the more reason I shouldn't be running games right now. I tried to keep this one going for a last hurrah but sadly that's not going to be the case here.

So with that said, I wish the games this weekend a lot of luck. Happy shooting, everyone! Sorry for the let-down but one bad turn out of the last 15 is not a bad track record as far as I'm concerned. I'll make it up to everyone.
