Operation Zombie hunter

October 22, 2012
Reports of a high incidence of people in southern Mexico experiencing Hantavirus-like symptoms begin being broadcasted in the United States

October 24, 2012
Mexican government calls for UN aid to stem the spread of the virus. US forces are dispatched to guard the border; however due to the military’s overseas deployment, only a few National Guard regiments are available. They are unable to properly secure the border. First deaths are reported in Mexico due to spontaneous hemorrhage.

October 26, 2012
Tucson reports first confirmed case of the virus. Within 24 hours the first confirmed death in the United States occurs. Within hours an estimated 50 deaths are reported. Reports filter in from Mexico that the first people who died from the virus have risen from the dead and attacked the funeral home staff, but the mainstream media reports the events as robbery/homicides committed by local religious fanatics.

October 28, 2011
Governor Jan Brewer announces a state of emergency and requests federal aid to help control the spread of this still unknown virus in which has affected over 200,000 at this point. The federal government is slow to react.

October 31,  2012
Federal aid starts arriving; however at this point the virus has spread too quickly and became un- controllable. An estimated million people have been affected in Arizona alone, and a hundred thousand are already reported dead. Similar reports of reanimation are cropping up from American sources, but the media has stopped reporting on them altogether. Doomsday cults begin preaching the end of the world, as predicted by the Mayans. Several of the cults commit mass suicide.

November 2th 2012
Reports of infection begin filtering in from all over the world. The World Health Organization estimates 200 million infected worldwide, and ten million dead. America’s border states with Mexico are in a panic as the death toll in Arizona alone tops 750,000. Riots and looters overwhelm local law enforcement, and citizens are forced to fend for themselves.

November 4, 2012
The death toll in Arizona tops five hundred thousand from the virus, and an additional fifty thousand from hospital overcrowding and lawlessness. The first officially-confirmed cases are reported of the dead reanimating and attacking the living, and the government recommends citizens stay indoors. Panic redoubles, and citizens rush stores for weapons and emergency supplies. Thousands die in hours from the rioting mobs alone.

November 5, 2012
Reports begin coming in that the dead are showing a herd mentality, using sheer numbers to overwhelm law enforcement and what little military presence was on the border. Official updates on the progress of the virus become more infrequent, but the latest estimates show fully half of the state of Arizona infected, one-quarter dead, and 20% have reanimated. Most emergency personnel have deserted their posts. Reports from overseas were grim, and none have been broadcast for several days.

November 10, 2012
What little National Guard presence is left on the border has dissolved to the squad level. Command is nonexistent. The active armed forces have fully returned from overseas and created a cordon at the Mississippi river, and have pledged to hold the line there, saving the East Coast at the expense of the West. 95% of Arizona is infected or dead, over 80% has reanimated. Government aid in the west is nonexistent, and the dead roam in groups numbering sometimes over ten thousand. Buildings are still burning in the wakes of the riots, with blazes spreading uncontested into the wilderness with no fire service to halt them. What few survivors are left are scattered, but a call has come out over several Phoenix FM radio stations: the remnants of two platoons of National Guardsman have set up a camp in western Glendale and are taking in survivors for safety in numbers. You and your small group take down your ramshackle camp in one of Arizona’s many empty tracts of desert and set off to find the source of the signal and seek out other survivors.

Welcome to the Resistance.

Zombie enrollment has been temporarily closed capped at 10 due to surprising interest. We'll flesh out some of the other teams before we open it all the way up again.

EDIT: error fixed. My bad.

We'll have more than ten in the end, we just don't want to have fifty zombies all volunteering for free Gold War tickets and eight survivors looking to sling plastic. We're looking to flesh out the zombie team later, once we get more survivors.

I was expecting the same. Pleasantly surprised, TBH. Hold off on switching, though... the teams are up to date, and it looks like the initial surge toward zombies hasn't continued.

We have thought everything threw on our zombies. a honorary member of PSC is a member of the organization that runs the zombie walks and will be bringing many of her friends from the walks to be volunteer's . There is also a possibility that Fear Farm staff will be helping as zombies .

Lol we gunna need some more zombies in order to fit the story line  maybe be like half life two? ZOmbies with grenades FTW!

We have thought everything threw on our zombies. a honorary member of PSC is a member of the organization that runs the zombie walks and will be bringing many of her friends from the walks to be volunteer's . There is also a possibility that Fear Farm staff will be helping as zombies .
Dude NICE!thats going to be kick ass.

Alright, so, I have to ask. This is mostly directed towards paramilitary, but open to everyone: what made you pick the faction you're in? Personally, I like civilian because roleplaying an average Joe who survived the apocalypse through sheer luck and now has only a pistol and maybe a springer shotgun to ride out the rest of the apocalypse with sounds like a hell of a lot of fun, and definitely more of a challenge.
Title: Re: Operation Zombie Hunter 2012 Fear Farm Arizona
Post by: theFlyingTrumpet on May 05, 2012, 05:24:25 PM
I picked zombie because I thought no one would want to and because I wanna scare the shit out of people when I jump out. I'm probably gonna have a biker look with a leather jacket and jeans and a bandana and a bloody shirt. I'll bring my gas pistol and sling a shotgun to my back.

Post by: Holy1596 on May 05, 2012, 05:29:53 PM

Also I feel like this has been beat to death, but 25 paramilitary plus 10 civilians plus 6 military vs 10 zombies?
I'm guessing this will be evened out with different spawn rules? Unlimited re-spawn for zombies?

Hey paramilitary guys! Suck it up stop being a bunch of girls clinging to their AEGs!!! I won't bite. Hard.   ;)

There is going to be alot more zombies. As stated before a friend of psc works with the zombie walk group and she is getting many of them to help out.
Is there gonna be zombie restrictions on the ability to run?

There will be different types of zombies. Some that can run, some that have armor, and some that cant die at all.

We zombies would appreciate the use of cheap Wal-Mart springers at close range, but we'll take the hits you dish out, so long as the gun shoots at reasonable CQB velocities. Personally? I'm wearing padding.

Well that somewhat  depends. Last year in october we were still getting 110 + temperatures randomly untill the middle of november, so wearing extra padding seems weather dependant.

I'm hoping it won't be that bad, and also since this is a night game it should have cooled off a bit. I'm not wearing hockey-goalie amounts of padding, but a thick sweatshirt should do me good.

We are carding because the military faction will need to act think and move like a military unit. From past experiences with events and from watching Mtt events this is the only way we can be sure this faction will work the way it needs to. If you do not like it you do not have to go but we are firm on our prices.

If we were charging over $200 or even $100 or if the event was with in a few weeks yes we would, but we are charging less than a full day at vanguard and the event is still 5 months away. military is already getting a bonus you are the only team that can go full auto. If you cant afford $40 for a milsim than military or not this isn't the sport for you. PSC takes pride in our armed forces, two members are current armed forces members with several who are former military and law enforcement

Some parts will be lit, some parts will be dark, some parts will have flickering "sparking electronics" lights. Ditches shouldn't be much of a problem though, this is a field where hundreds of people are chased by clowns with chainsaws or what have you on a yearly basis that would be liable if someone tripped and broke an ankle.

Id like to add a guest as civi. -John Cox. Can I use a gbb smgs pdw on semi only that has no stock?? If not might have to be para.
It's not exactly a civilian-style weapon, but so long as you keep it to semi-auto I don't see it being an overpowered weapon, so I'd personally say it's okay.

I'd have to disagree with you. even though its on semi, he could be able to shoot much more rapidly than with a pistol or shotgun.

I've seen his gun and watched him shoot. It's not that much of a fast firing gun when on semi. It's just an over sized pistol at that point.

I'm not seeing how a GBB SMG on semi can shoot faster than a GBB pistol on semi, personally. I mean, I can rattle off rounds on my P226 pretty quick. But in the end, it's still a GBB sidearm with a ~30 round mag, I wouldn't think it would be too unbalanced. The only real difference is that he can use the mag as a foregrip, and that he has the capability of switching to auto and cheating, but I'd hope he wouldn't do that. I mean, I welcome the discussion, but I just don't see it.

What's stopping anyone from putting a foregrip on a pistol with a rail anyway? It's basically the same thing.

So just the fact that it has full auto is the issue it sounds like.

I have done this in the past, and honestly, I'd rather hold it the conventional way, myself. I find a forward grip doesn't help much with a gun that isn't front-heavy and has no stock to push into your shoulder.

As of right now all teams will have a limit cap whit the exception of the zombies. Military will cap at 20, paramilitary will cap at 30 and civilians at 40. If all goes as planed pre registration will opened with in the next two weeks. faction assigment will be first comes first servs so just because you signed up on AA doesnt mean you have that spot, you need to pre register as soon as possible to secure your spot on desired faction  stay tuned for more updates.

Was that a poke at Cold Steel? Because they do make actual blades, they just have a reputation of being tacticool and overpriced.

Also, I've seen several airsofters with those $7 NERF hatchets. You can give a hell of a whallop with one of those and it doesn't hurt one bit, they're extremely well designed.

This is correct.

We're also allowing gas-op bolt/pump/lever-action weapons as well, I believe. Not sure if that's in the OP...

Cold Steel actually has a line of industrial rubber knives, like 6 different styles, and for 6-10 dollars per, they're somewhat worth it.

Are there any killing limitations on zombies, for example like only torso? Will you be on enforcing engagement distances? and finally, will this be a force on force with zombies? or a force and force and force vs zombies

BTW- it would be cool if military had riot shields instead of full auto. Save the zombies some pain

I'm curious about this too. The velocity limit seems high unless there are specific rules of engagement that haven't been mentioned yet.

Either way, I'm willing to volunteer as a zombie.

Im seriously concerned and contemplation backing out my registration for zombie if I cant get a answer about zombie safety and engagement distances. I don't want to sound 'wimpy' or not play, but i'm concerned for the volunteers safety against a largely outnumbering force with no clue as to safety engagement distances or surrender/mercy calls.

Okay, we've got a question for the paramilitary faction here: how many of you were planning on wearing a current-issue camo pattern bottom with a solid-color top? It appears that what we intended and what was actually said were two different things, and there may well be some confusion. The intention was that military would be able to use any current US military pattern (ACU, ABU, AOR1/2, MARPAT/DESPAT, Multicam), and para would get solid color jumpsuits, one-color uniforms (black pants/black shirt and such), obsolete US military (tigerstripe, M81 woodland, DCU, 6-color chocolate chip, etc) with a solid top, or non-US military camo pattern pants (DPM, flecktarn, Mossy Oak, etc) with a solid-color top. So if we instituted this rule, how many of you would be inconvenienced by it?

As a note, this won't affect zombies, or the Military or Civilian factions. Only the Paramilitary.

Alright, we talked it over the other day, and paramilitary will be allowed to wear any camouflage bottoms, including current-issue camo pattern bottoms, so long as they wear a solid-color top. Non-current-issue American camo, foreign camo, or civilian camo may be worn as a top/bottom set, so long as it doesn't look too much like a military-faction camo pattern (i.e. no British MTP or Russian SURPAT). Just realize that if you're Paramilitary and wear, for example, multicam pants, a multicam plate carrier, a multicam hat, and an OD green shirt, you may well get shot by an excitable friendly who mistakes you for military.

Sound fair to everyone? Do feel free to ask for clarification.

Nah, any solid color is fine. Just think about the color before you wear it. But if you want to wear a color that might get you mistaken for another faction, by all means. We're not going to stop you from making bad decisions. Friendly fire is still a kill, and this IS the apocalypse...

I'm not gonna say right now for certain that you can or can't wear a ghillie suit, but what I can tell you is that maximum engagement distance at any point on the field is probably fifty feet, a ghillie won't help you one bit, unless your goal is to sweat your ass off.

the area is a giant flat area. It's divided by fencing into different sports fields and also the fear farm place. It's not just a maze. It's a big area with many buildings, some are hidden in the corn.

Am i able to wear a Ghilli suit if i am in Paramilitary?

Doesn't really matter since the zombies now know to look out for people in ghillie suits. Congratulations on spoiling your own surprise.  :)
Opps! haha. I just Rebuilt an old gun of mine into a sniper thats why i asked.
Just make sure it meets the 375fps rule.

Giving a suggestion, you can always pick up a fairly decent cheap shotgun - or you could buy your new pistol that you've had your eye on. Thats what I plan to do, provided I can go - Its still on the rocks with me spending my money like I have been.

I don't remember a decision being made that all zombie roleplayers will be playing as civilians for the last mission. I believe some will be allowed to play as paramilitary or even military, if they have the proper credentials, but don't take this as the final word.

I saw this in the description:
"Volunteers will revive free admission to event and be able to play as survives on the last missions."

I may be wrong, but what this looks like is that "Civilian Survivors" is what its referring to, because Paramilitary is called "Paramilitary Forces".

This. In most games there's a 100' minimum engagement distance on sniper rifles to offset the higher power, but on this field you'll be lucky to find a spot where you'll be taking shots at half that.

So what are the parameters on the Zombie rules? Do zombies shoot guns? Is it two-hand  touch only? Are the zombies wearing pie tins that define a kill shot? Are non-zombie players going to be shooting at other non-zombie players? Will there be missions for the civilians other than just survive?

As far as I know, it's 2 hand touch. One hot will usually kill a zombie. Us zombies would appreciate torso shots only (accept for the juggernaut zombie :P). As far as missions go, they will be given out. PSC will give ya more info when he gets on but that just my knowledge of the game.

What will be the average engagement distance? mostly CQB or about half field half cqb? also if your gun shoots 375 with 25s do you have to use pistol up close/indoors or can you rifle anywhere? I'm asking because I have a field gun and a cqb gun and wondering which would be more appropriate. Thank you.

it is a cqb field all guns will have to crono 375fps or lower. You do not need to switch to a side arm up close that's why we put the bar at 375.

the 375 with .25 is taken from the MTT guidelines. It has worked well for them for over 6 years. If you want to get technicaly even a bb flying at 200 fps that weighs .25 could draw blood. if you are worried about a little blood than airsoft isnt a sport you shouldnt be playing

What is the standing on zombies being able to push guns out of the way? ie someone with a rifle comes around the corner within 5 feet of you and you(being a zombie) push the end of the rife out of the way.

375 with .25 is a great guideline for outdoor games when targets are 100 feet or more away. However, this is not an appropriate velocity when targets are less than 10 feet away, or even point blank. I would recommend a velocity limit around 350 w/ 0.20g (315 w/ 0.25g).

Aside from die-hard zombies like me, everyone else loves to play zombie games until they have to be a zombie. I've seen plenty of people drop out because 330 with 0.20g was too much. In fact, I already see names on the prepaid list that I know can't hack it as a zombie. 15 zombie volunteers isn't going to be enough to take on 30 to 40 survivors if they keep "committing suicide" to avoid playing as a zombie.

I'd also like to remind everyone that Ron from Gearbox had a BB stick in his forehead at a MTT zombie event where the velocity limit was 375 with 0.25g. Sure that kid's gun was shooting hot anyways, but whats another 30FPS when you're shooting someone point blank in the face?

I was there when Ron got shot. We think it was a G&G "Extreme" pistol that was used, they shoot at 450...

It's gonna sting, even at 350. I've been on the Zombie side, and it's just the nature of the game.
If you drop the FPS too far, few people will have an "indoor gun" that'll chrono.
Zombies, wear thick clothing and a chest protector and cup.

Best advice in this thread..... If you're already wearing a costume, just add some padding. That's what I'll be doing.

Also, PSC with this game getting real close are you going to post more detailed rules for the game? Including kill rules, spawn rules, etc....

I you have a hot gun, than you know it be responsible with the power you have ('with great power comes great responsibility'). Use discretion when firing, and be nice. If you can't take the hit, than nut up or shut up. Be a man. Me I'm using a pistol so I won't hurt anyone.

P.S. I'm bringing a 14 year old girl to this game and she'll take it.

Honestly, if someone with a rifle comes within arms length to me, I'm going to push the end of the barrel out of my way.
sounds about right. this will sound like the ignorant teenager I am, but I will be pushing barrels out of my way and doing a self inforced "bang bang rule" if you wanted to call it that. Think of it this way, if I stuck an airsoft gun the shoots past 330 w/ .25s 2 feet from your chest, I think that you would rather push it away than be shot by it. and I will be wearing just a T-shirt for some rounds.

P.S. how much will one of those plates cost so i can put it underneath me.

Asking again, how about rules for melee weapons? Just got a nice plastic bat from 99. Only, -Smacked my own noggin in front of the Wife to show it doesn't hurt.. Kosher, or no?
Lots of good cheap soft weapons in the stores now.

Not on  Facebook, so if rules are on there, not getting them.

It's like a solid Whiffle bat. I used one just like it at the Zombie Game at Vanguard  a year back, and no complaints.
I really don't plan to use it to conk 'ya. It's better utilised as a jabbing stand-off kinda thing.
Patti cringed as I whacked myself hard about fifteen times over and over in the head with it.. No problems, I was grinning.

Let's just re-post this from earlier in the thread:

So long as it's not camo or something approximating camo you'll be fine. I'm not sure why you'd want to wear two shirts like that, but you're free to do so.

Good: The game seems like it'll be intense and lots of fun.

Bad: I'm going to need to order A LOT of BB's.

Question I forgot to ask, are grenades and flash bangs allowed?

grenades are allowed, at least that's what i think i heard. its gonna be a tight up close and personal kind of game, so all you cheating types should sit this one out. also dont bother bringing a sniper type weapon, the field isn't set up that way, plus it'll probably shoot to hot anyways. from what i was told, if you get tagged by a zombie, your immobilized for a certain amount of time, you can get revived, but those details will be revealed game day. paramilitary will work in small teams, civilians will be in even smaller teams. Those that are military, we will be working as one unit. The mission details were left out, the organizer really wants people to be surprised for what they have in store. Should be a good day. Also please dont email me any crazy questions, almost all the information can be found on the front page or the facebook site.

Correct. Thunder-B's and other gas-powered grenades are allowed, as are dummies with a "bang" rule. No pyrotechnics of any sort, we don't want to risk the corn catching on fire. It's starting to get a bit on the brown side.

To speed up player processing on the day of the event, here is a copy of the player waiver (https://docs.google.com/open?id=1s0g0EVu76bB_zleSF-4RAzIJO-YANpYImH3W3vhPWBbObKsGZhzIrFW7jLH5). We'll have some on-hand at the field, but it's always easier and quicker if you print it out yourself and fill it out before you get to the game.

Hah! All of you survivors trying to get all prepared and whatnot. ;D I already know what I'm wearing and I've been working on my zombie moans. All I need is a tube of fake blood. Boom. I'm ready.  8)

Either way I'm still super excited for this game. I still am not really sure what my mission is as a zombie. Pssst.... PSC.... Do I just have to wait until the game to be briefed? D:

Bring a dump pouch gents. We're going to be tossing a lot of ordinance at those rotting bastards, and a tactical reload might be in order once in awhile.
Get some chemlights too. I'll have a bunch, and I'll explain why later...

We have ran into a major dilemma. Robert the owner of fearfarm has just called me. The fore department has ordered the corn to be cut down due to it's dry state. I am working with him to try to postpone the cutting but he may have no choice. I need to get opinions judging from both the walk in and pictures posted do you guys think we could still run it if not we will issue refunds.

I vote against the hay bales. Like I said on the facebook, Zombies are able to move around where ever including through the corn (nobody else can) and zombies are going to be more populated then us anyway, If we just had hay bales as walls then it would take the fun factor away and would just we an over populated game a Vanguard.

If that pistol mag pouch is the one I sold you. You can put two 1911 single stack mags in them. I can do it on my tan vest. Get it wet and then shove two mags in there then put it in the sun to dry.

I thought about that. I figured since the 1911 has slim mags you'd be able to fit two in there. When the rest of my MOLLE stuff comes in the mail I'll try it, thanks.

Okay, from what I understand, the corn has already been cut. It's a done deal, there's no ifs, ands, or buts about it. Now we have three choices, as far as I see it:

1. Cancel the game, refund all the money, auction all the donation items off here on AA
2. Find a new field and re-do half the scenario's pre-planning before Saturday
3. Organize a work party with some pickup trucks to help move some hay bales on Thursday or Friday

I prefer option 3, personally. How many of you are able and willing to come out to Fear Farm during the week and get some hay moved? If yes, post preferred days.

Okay guys, so as we stand now, the owner of Fear Farm and the land had to cut down the corn due to fire hazard deemed by the Avondale Fire Marshall. I was thinking if we get together a work party Friday night or Saturday in the morning, we can work something out to move hay bails all day. I have a ford ranger, so I can help. It would be amazing if you guys could scrape up some extra cash to donate for gas to those who help. Anyone with a pick up truck would be very helpful to move the hay. Now this is just an idea, I have not spoken to the owner of the land or Jason about this idea, but I feel this is a solid idea. Message me or respond if you would be down to help.

I feel we are too close and have put too much into this to just back out just cause there is NO corn. I speak for myself and a few other local airsofters when I say, we have gotten the time off work, which we could be making money, for this game. WE cannot let no corn get us down

On the upside, we have an aerial photograph of what the field looked like before the corn was cut, so we can theoretically still reproduce it, but if we wanted to we could put in some modifications here and there that could help gameplay, like actual COVER and such, which the corn didn't really provide.

I also may be able to do friday. Anyone know of when they will cut down the corn? and also I can work all day if need be.
As I understand it, the corn was cut a day or two ago. It's already gone.

So to clarify a few things,no one is more upset than my self.
1. I have taken a weeks worth of time off to help fearfarm get ready for the season.
2. between my self and fresnel we have spent over 200 man hours getting this event ready, talking to sponsors, and advertising.
3. we have spent our own personal cash to get all the props for the event.

That said we have a few options
The haybails are not to be moved thats non negotiable.

1. we run the event inside the two cqb houses.
2. we postpone the event and run it at the uac.
3. we do not run it at all and everyone is refunded.

If you would like a refund please send us an email to PhoenixShadowCompany@yahoo.com with your conformation number

As a form of our gratitude everyone who pre ordered will get a free admission to operation gold war part 2

that said if you have any questions about why the corn is going to be cut Roberts email address is
FearFarm@cox.net

Knowing the mission plan, we'd have to completely re-write the entire scenario to make it work in just the two CQB houses, and with the time and AO constraints, I'm worried we wouldn't even be able to make up a game worthy of being called "half-assed".

The MTT UAC is like a little town, with streets, alleys, lots of small structures and a few cars and such. The surrounding desert has gullies and open terrain.
The drive out is kinda long -it's south of the Nuclear Plant.. You can see the domes from the AO.
Cars can make it, but it's off-road for a ways.
MTT put years of work in the place, it's pretty neat.

The problem as stated is that the straw bales at the field cannot be moved, so he's seeing if he can get his hands on enough straw bales elsewhere to move onto the field and build our own paths/bunkers/etc. They might be a bit funky smelling as they'll likely be expired and a bit on the moldy side, but hey, it's a zombie apocalypse.

there is no pyro stuff that was going to be set off in the field. the problem isnt that they cant keep the corn up its that the fire department deemed it unsafe. Robert had to cancel his events too so if he had to cancel his there is no way it work for us. the only way to salvage fearfarm is shdsteel's idea

Because your government loves you and wants you to be happy.

Basically it's a huge fine of $5000 (probably per person) if anyone is caught in the field until it's cut, which I'm now told will be Friday night or Saturday morning.

Okay, supplemental idea: shdsteel can get the straw bales, but for added walls, those corrugated plastic political signs that sit on every corner are now up for grabs with the polls closed and the election over. We could rip some of those out and re-place them in the field as cover. If some of you are willing to help gather some and bring them out before the game...

This sounds like the 9th circle of hell. Also, not sure of the legality of it. Might Probably be wrong about that.
I'm fairly certain that after the polls are closed, the signs are free game. The candidate/prop committee has seven days to take all the signs down or they're cited for littering. So we're really doing them a favor.

If it's kosher, I would be more than happy to grab some. If someone is headed there from the Tempe area, let me know and I'll snag a few.

When is Taylor getting all of this hay and when is it getting to fear farm? I suppose since my refund hasn't been sent yet and something is actually happening I might as well help.

So everybody knows I live two minutes from fear farm and I'll be more then happy to help set up or anything. I don't work Thursday or Friday, so if we're doing something on those days I'll be there. I think we should all go help Friday no matter what though then convoy out to Tempe Paintball for some good ol' plastic slingin' stress therapy.

Think there's some really huge Arpio signs near me. They're about 4 ft. I'll see what I can do. Do you need the smaller ones too?

Okay, full update of what I know is that the corn has not been cut yet, but there is a massive fine if anyone is caught in it before it's cut down, so using the corn is out. It's scheduled to be cut either Friday evening or Saturday morning, I'm going to see if Fear Farm can push that forward a day or so so we can have more time to build a field. I don't know if the corn is going to be left on the ground, scooped up, or bailed, but on the off chance that we're lucky and it's bailed we might also be able to use bails of corn to supplement our bails of straw. Between what straw we can get and some political signs, we can at least put some barriers on the field for players to use and/or zombies to use as cover, and at best we can build some corridors and such to fight in. I think this is looking salvageable.

With any luck, the game will still be on for this weekend, and anyone who requested a refund solely because of a "time off" issue will still want to come out and play.

You guys are in for a lot of work. Slepping haybales is a bitch -wear strong leather work gloves. THEN you need to load them up and dispose/take them back after?
Go for it, but I'd postpone the game until January or later at the UAC, rather than go through all this, my 02.

You've seen the bigger political signs, I'm sure. You probably won't be able to hide behind them standing up everywhere, but we'll be sure to make them that tall in plenty of places. Remember, you have guns, the zombies have nothing but the element of surprise. We have to give them a fair chance too.

I have to call Fear Farm in the morning and confirm what time the corn is being cut, it may not be until Saturday morning. I'll post an update as soon as I know it, but for now we'll assume 4PM. If PSC or myself don't make a post about it though, assume the corn is still up; no need for everyone to drive all the way out there and get screwed wasting gas.

Un-fortunately I have to do a last minute back out of the game. I am extremely sad about it, seeing as it will be my first OP ever, but I have something else more important. what sucks is I spent $70 of my own money (which is alot when I am not legally allowed to have a job) on cuts/fake blood/ and make up. I was also supposed to do a trade so as I see it, this is one of the hardest decisions I have made yet, but it had to be done.

I can almost certainly get my hands on a metric butt-ton of bailing twine too, my mom's been saving them off every bale of hay she's bought in the last decade. She's got a bundle as thick as my torso these days, she'll likely let me have some/all of it.

Okay, the work party is on. I just talked to the owner and he says the corn was cut yesterday, but because of how the harvester works there's still 18-20" of corn stalk left over, so the paths are clearly visible. I'll try to be there by 3:30 to give the field a once-over and see what can/should/needs to be done, if everyone else can try to be there at 4 we can maybe get this rocking. If any of you military-faction folk are on the fence about coming out, let me tell you you will be provided a significant game advantage by coming out - the story says you've been there for a while, so you'll get to design and build your own base barricades, so long as you're fair on use of materials.

Remember, if you have access to a pickup truck and/or trailer, please do bring it, we can use it to haul materials around, and as far as I'm aware we will have to go and get our own hay bales from the farms donating them. And we will have to remove whatever materials we place, so we're going to need a third work party Sunday.

Okay, good news and bad news.

Bad news: nobody showed for the work party, I was there from 4:15-5:00.

Good news: after seeing the field, there are so many buildings so tightly packed that it's pretty close to MTT's UAC in terms of urban combat. If we put up a few poster-walls here and there, it should still be fully playable. So I think we can afford to scrap the hay bales, they'll just be a bitch to schlep around.

Yeah, that was a hell of a game. I even had a blast just being a shambling corpse all day. Even in full-on shufflemode, I still got me a kill. Also, I'd like to make note of the frankly impressive marksmanship of the civilian team. Every time I encountered them, bar twice, I was dropped with a single shot and a single hit to the mock plate I had in the carrier under my shirt.

I'd also like to apologize for my screw-up on the last mission. Paramilitary started without a horn, so I never blew the horn to start the mission, so the Military started at the "game over" horn.

And finally, Shdsteel was using my riot shield, and... Well, it wasn't new when he got it, but it was in pretty good shape. Y'all did a real job on my paint, and there's some hefty dents in the pastic. :D

I'm not mad, I'm impressed.

EDIT: To the Civilian with the gas shotgun, there are two red marks on my knee, nearly touching. Impressive shot for the range.

I promise to post a better nod towards this game later, im just tired and need at least a little sleep before work.  ;D
That being said, This game was awesome. Even considering the unfortunate last minute change with the corn fields, it turned out relatively well. I'm glad there was a nice turn out for this event and that it made a positive difference for Ron's family. Thank you PSC for setting up this event for all of us to enjoy!!!

Goodnight

Jasen "Pickle" K.

PS. MY Gemtech Oasis IS AWESOME!!!

Alright so condensation in between the screen and case made the phone freeze and it took awhile last night haha. But after fixing that, it was back up and running this Morning.

Anyways as far as light night goes. It went real well and I had so much fun. We probably should have started earlier because we played up until 12 when we had to end the game early ha!

The weather when I was out there at 11am was pretty windy but luckily it died down. Only downside again was the temperature. I had a big riot helmet on and was sweating like a pig so I was pretty cold on the intermissions.

Idk if Steve has an account on AA or not but I want to also give a shoutout to him for bringing us all food and drink. Without him we would have died.

Some of the places were a maze and would have liked to have seen more action in those. But other than that, all the other buildings were good to play in.

Kinda disappointed that vanguard took some of our players though and weren't and to make it out with the crono but oh well what are you gunna do?

Even though I dare not risk running through that field did to the corn stock stumps, it was fun stumbling through like a tank zombie.

All in all, I had an amazing time there and would love to come back soon.

Great game, end got kinda BS but I'm not one to complain, I didn't have any problems with combat against military, but I do think it was a bit unfair to the zombies that they didn't get their chance to play as a survivor

great game, the confusion made it seem like a legit survival experience. the first game was complete chaos, with me and my military compadres shooting anything that moved. the next op you guys put on should be fun, hopefully it takes place during the day

It was the quality of the players that made this game so good.
A big Good Onya to PSC and all those who worked so hard on this.

Oh, sorry, word must not have gotten to you, but we zombies played as civilians on the last mission. We tried to pass it on, but communication wasn't 100%, as I'm certain you all noticed. Weird, the only zombie I saw on that mission was the tank.

Also, props once more for Shdsteel's performance as a tank zombie. Not fast enough to pose a real threat to a mobile survivor, but fast enough to discourage camping, and I hear Paramilitary's leader managed to sneak up on him, hook an arm through the back of his plate carrier, and use him as an invincible mobile shield to advance on the military with. Now THAT'S thinking on your feet.

Any particular reason why the paramilitary started almost every round before anyone else and not waiting for the horn?

Actually I beg to differ on this we were told multiple times once our boots hit the field it was game on, so maybe you guys didn't get that memo. I think some better communication from game staff to participants next time would be in order, also maybe cutting the chatter and off topic stuff and stick to the scenarios info and rules.

I had a great time at the game, at one point I got separated from my squad and laid down in the grass/stalks in enemy territory for 15 minutes picking guys off. I probably killed no exaggeration 15 military/civilians combined. I had 2 zombies walk 4 feet from me and not see me until I plinked them in the chest and one game staff almost walk over me.

i got footage but its mostly dark:/
The game was awesome! My only complaint was that we rushed to finish, i would have liked to actually play those last two missions especially with the money and time others and myself put in.

yes  both military and civs were told the game started when the air horn sounded..why else would they even use the thing, doesnt make much sense. I think better communications would have stopped alot of the confusion.

I just wanted to thank everyone who attended this event in memory of Ron. I am sorry I missed it and was unable to help out with a donation for the raffle and prize give away. Ron was was a great guy and I really appreciated his insight and knowledge about airsoft. As a token of my appreciation for all those that attended this event, I would like to invite everyone who particiapated with a free admission to Havoc Wargames Rise of the Insurgents IV at The Sandbox, December 16th. You may sign up by simply posting on AA topic for Rise and be sure to indicate which team you want to be part of. Slots will be filled on a first come, first serve basis so if you want to be on a certain team be sure to indicate it on your post.

Also, to encourage more people to attend the new games at Fear Farm on Saturday, Havoc Wargames is also going to extend the free admission to Rise of the Insurgents IV to anyone who attends the Saturday Games leading up to Rise of the Insurgents. I know finding a place to play airsoft has gotten a little more difficult with Fightertown shutting down, and we would like to give as many people as possible a place to enjoy their hobby.
