Whiskey, what you say is true, however my point was even if you toss out the internals there is still a very good reason to keep the ICS.  Unmatched internal modularness (is that even a word).

I can go from Sniper to CQB (Included inner barrel and front assembly) in about 2 minutes.  Velocity changes from 330fps to 450fps+.  How many other AEG's can say that?

In addition, the spring tension release may be the most underrated feature in all of airsoft.

So Chris, if you have your heart set on getting a new M4 varient, I would at least consider using the ICS casing and body because of the ease of upgrade and the spring tension release.

I honestly think that ICS makes better MP5s than M4s.  I dont know what they did with the new version but that two piece gearbox has seems to have been problematic with the older models.  It just might not be sturdy enough.

Um, wow, you are the first person I have ever heard say the MP5s were better than the M4's.  Every person I have talked to says ICS's Mp5 suck.  Bad.

I have never had a sturdiness issue with my ICS casing and it has a 140 spring in it right now.

Dang, every single person i know who has an ICS MP5 has never had any problems and has shot very well, but every one I've talked to with an ICS M4 has complained about their reliablility.

That's probably why I don't own any, too many conflicting opinions concerning their guns...

Concerning CA vs. TM, I think CA's a better buy if you dont want to do any serious projects with your gun since they come pretty much field ready out of the box (metal, sturdy, etc) TM's better if you want to make some sort of project out of the AEG, and I personally think that TM aegs have a much better hop up than CA.  CA just hasn't quite figured out the magic TM AEG formula yet.

The new versions have reinforced gearbox halves already and as far as i know the older versions didnt have any issues either.  I think its alot of hear say and not alot of practical use.

well I had some problems with, for one my wiring crapped out on me so that needed to be replaced. Had to put a new systema piston in it. Alos i put a systema silent cylinder/piston head set on it. Put a tight bore in it. Plus the cost of it being in the shop. I have had some bad luck with it but i can't go any higher than a m120 spring. How did you get yours to a m140?!

New version ICS guns are head over heals compared to their predecessor.  Turbo 3000 motor spits out unrivaling torque and RPM, reinfofeced gears as standard, metal bushings, reinfoced gearbox halves.  I've held both the 2nd gen ICS guns and now the new 2006 Gen guns and the 2006 gens have a bit more heft to them due to the improvements that have been made.  I think people underestimate the power of ICS's piston and piston head.  Honestly the one thats in my 2006 is doing incredibly well.  Far better then my Guarder Poly Carb in my M100 set up.  I find it funny that people complain about not having enough battery space yet for some reason I still can fit in 9.6v 1650 mAh Nunchucks with ease.

Chris I do agree with the wiring issue, the wiring system on my ICS is starting to show its usage but its been fine the past few games.  Occasionaly I'll get a semi low battery and it wont turn over very well and will be "erratic" however My ICS has far more instore for it then anyone could forsee... namely MOSFET installation :D

Hmmm, I should see if my two uppers are different....  I never thought to check that.  However the 140 spring is in the original upper, not the new one.    I believe that is a pre-2006 upper it is in.  I haven't had a problem.

if you want a gun that will never fail go with the TM.  As long as you take standard steps to take care of your gun (lube, clean, decompress the spring, store properly) a TM will never fail you.  CA on the other hand, though they have improved ALOT you will still run into problems here and there.  G&G i don't care for nor ICS, but pretty much anything you get you can turn into a beast of an AEG with the right upgrades.

I'd also like to say the M14 simply because I'm sick of seeing so many Armalites (Armalites refering to all M16 look alikes).  Before I upgraded my TM it was working amazingly.  It out ranges most stock AEG's and some upgraded AEG's.  If your looking for an electric sniper rifle anyways I'd get the full length m14 and watch everyone be filled with fear of the 7.62 death! :D

Yeah, I put one of those in my M700, buy it just jammed.

But, yeah, I will recommend the ICS M4's to anybody.  They are 95% compatible with after market parts and cake to upgrade.  That combined with the option for quick upper casing swap outs makes them a definite contender as far as M4 variants go.
