Local Games Listing/RSVP / Re: Anyone interested
« on: October 02, 2022, 04:18:45 PM »
I miss when this forum was super active. I was here back when the huge debate about under 18s was raging and I feel like that's a big part of what killed the forum for this sport. After that, COVID was the final nail in the coffin. If anyone still plays, I would love to get something together. I miss the days where I would go out to Hatfield and play with 40+ other people (obviously that field is shut down now- but there was such a lively community around it that would work to find new places to play). Otherwise.. looks like I have to abandon my love of airsoft and just play the alternative- paintball. The airsoft arenas just don't do it for me anymore, I want big games in the northern woods or middle of the desert again.

A lot of the activity moved to smaller groups of guys that generally roll as a team (sometimes 3, sometimes 13) to larger events like MSW or American MilSim. Give CoyoteTactical a follow on Instagram, or check out the facebook groups for airsoft in the area. I definitely miss the local games, and many of the long time AA folks are still around and playing, just not posting on here.

EDIT: Didn't realize this was an almost 2 years old post. My apologies. Feel free to delete if needed.

Just to get some more information out there, I was an R&D consultant for AR500 for about a year. There exists one set of this, and it is NOT ballistically rated. It lacks the proper components to prevent backface deformation, which is one of the factors involved in rating/certifying armor. There are plenty of materials that stop a round from penetrating, but if they exceed a certain amount of deformation on the backside, it can still pose significant injury risk to the user. There is a reason ceramic and UHMWPE plates are as thick as they are, and almost half of the thickness (at least with UHMWPE) is to mitigate backface deformation.

The helmet is incredibly hard to see out of, not surprisingly.

If you want something like this, Ryan Flowers at Galac-Tac (the original main designer) sells non ballistic versions.
Here is their website: http://galac-tac.com/

Accessories & Gear / Re: i,m new, what gear do i have to get?
« on: July 17, 2018, 12:35:07 PM »
Highly recommend some good comfortable eye protection, and solid footwear, especially if you'll be playing outside. Above the ankle hiking boots are far more comfortable than military style boots almost 99% of the time.

General Airsoft Discussion / Military Veterans - Free Airsoft Night
« on: November 25, 2015, 02:06:58 PM »
I'm the State Director for a non-profit group called Concerned Veterans for America. We push for policy reform relating to the VA, DoD, and various economic things. One of my tasks is recruiting veterans to volunteer with us to help push these efforts of ours. We are funded and don't solicit donations, so this isn't a time-share type thing. We function off people donating their TIME to us, a few hours a month, to make phone calls to gather statistics and pressure elected officials into supporting legislation.

I am having a volunteer recruitment event on Monday, December 14th from 7p to 9p at VIP Airsoft. Since we rented the whole place out, we will be making it as legit as possible. Filling it with smoke, strobe lights, making use of the breaching doors, etc.

If you are a military veteran, or national guard/reserve member, and interested in attending, please PM me.

You are encouraged to rock your plate carrier/real gear if you'd like to.

Thank you.

Christian and Ron passing really bummed the guys that had been around since I was a kid on here. A lot of the folks I came up with either went into the military, got real jobs, had families, and airsofting went to the back burner. All the young crowd that was serious when I was 18/19, myself included, ended up using what spare time they had for real guns and training with them.

I'll be honest, I come on here every now and then just to read the drama. It seems everyone is more concerned about recruiting for their 2 man team than they are about learning and playing. The whole thing has become commercialized which is good and bad. I won't get on that topic though.

Go SWCC, SEALS, or GTFO

But fer reals, congrats man. Don't be stupid with your money. Always be looking at the next step, career wise, and personal development wise. Don't get married, don't buy a car off base, don't get married, save your money, don't get married, don't get sucked into hanging out with the guys that hate the military and complain, don't get married, find hobbies that keep you active, don't get married, travel, don't get married.

Good luck.

No, an actual alligator. I guess someone dumped it there, but it's a bad spot to play. Lots of sketchy things go down there which brings a lot of LE.

Hey man is it 35 firm?

Seeing as it's an actual dealer and not OP, I'm going to say probably not. I have a couple sitting around in storage, PM me an offer and your size.

Are you talking just north of the actual river in that vegetation on the west side of the road? If so, not only have I fought a few wildfires there, but we found more than one alligator. For reals. I believe it's BLM land, but don't quote me on it. I wouldn't run around with guns as all the folks who were hanging at the river right there, and a heavy LEO presence, at least since fires started becoming an issue from negligent folks.
