I'm trying to convince my team leader to take into consideration Flora Camo as our team uniform. It is a very effective camo that is almost universal used by the Soviet Union and what now is the Russian Federation. He keeps denying that it is effective in desert, but in reality, it was used by the Soviet Union when they invaded Afghanistan. He is hellbent of making us use either Multicam(ok, but i don't like the look), Desert Digital(< only can be used in desert and we would just look like a bunch of marines instead of a alternate fighting force), Marpat(I'm cool with this but still prefer Flora), or a tan top with OD pants (< HELLLLL NO!!!!!!)
P.S. I'm sure few airsofters use Flora since it has to be imported so it would be averagely unique (I'm buying it anyways so that I can stick out a little atleast).
P.P.S. I like strait black as some of you know so please don't quote my past post on camo.
Please post your opinions so i can give him proof or slap myself in my face for sounding like a retard.

I've had several people tell me that ACU is hard to pick out in the desert. That's why I roll ACU.
Just sayin

i would go with ACU but thats already part of our uniform...
-
The last time I saw flora on the field in a local game was stuff that looked like silk pajamas.
ACU looks like camo for fighting on the moon. Multicam is played out. Desert marpat is good, but you are right in that you will look like marinesim.
Getting into some foreign camo would be nice to see on the field. Something with a tan base would be better like the pakistani stuff. You do tend to run into friendly fire issues when you have too many different patterns. Not everything from the former USSR is great either.

Haha I'm not a communist (or am I???) I just admire the Russian/Soviet military (tactics and weapons, not past actions). I am socialist though (so is Britain so don't crawl up my butt for saying that)

Joseph Mcarthy is on his way over here to determin if you truly are a communist.
Oh, and I got a really good idea. I was watching the iron man movie yesterday, and I noticed a bunch of the airforce guys wearing a pattern of BDU I've never seen before. It was like the original vietnam tiger stripe, but desert colors. It looked really cool and is unique, if you guys like it. Just an idea :D

Airforce digital tigrestripe is extremely similar to ACU(UCP). Take a loot at true desert tigerstripe:

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO i like that!!!!!!!!! Im going to suggest that to my leader!!! Thanks man, he's going to like that!

I can only think of 2 teams that use Russian camo, both are located in Tucson.
49th Commandos and Desert Hawks
Im on the 49th and airsofting in a Russian uniform (we use Tiger Stripe and Flora) is really fun, especially when everyone else is in standard ACU or Multicam.

From experience.....
It freaken sucked. I only used foreign camo or gear, and it's not cheap. About 95% of the time I was unable to use it due to uniform restrictions. It's also nearly impossible to sell once you have it unless you manage to find another foreign camo wearer. You will be called names, and you will get into it with people. Unless you have a team and stick to something that resembles US, it's not worth it.

From my experience dcu acu and multicam are te best for desert combat although if youre going for a private military look you could suggest flora pants a black top and OD or flora rigs, that would look sick and should work ok for desert.

That's a good idea too, looks unique, works in the desert, and it's kind of a mix of all the camos mentioned
-
I've always liked Desert-DPM. Even see it at the local surplus store once in a while.
-
I run DCU (3 color desert) and like. But out of those I like multicam. But, Alot of people have it. Have you considered desert flektarn?
-
Have you considered desert flektarn?

looks like regular flecktarn, just tan

ATACS
-
I think I might go with DPMs. It's what the UK use. Unfortunately I am ordered to go w/ desert marpat... Midas well shave my head and enlist in the Marines on the way to the surplus store... [-(

I'mgetting some a-tacs soon.

how much are A-tacs?
-
Tops are $60 and bottoms are $60

Go acu, it can be used like practically anywhere and it pretty good camo, hard to see

I beg to differ.

So do I - I'm in Army ROTC, so I HAVE to wear the stuff for exercises - There's only one place it truly excels as a camouflage: The dairy section of the Commissary. And that's not just me, every other soldier I've asked has confirmed that it's ineffective.
Gotta say though, even though you don't like the look of Desert MarPat, it's a rather effective camouflage.
-
A-Tacs works great, in specific terrain. Its a step up from ACU.
Multi-cam works best in most Arizona terrain, as best as I can tell.
Flora, not so much. I have a full set, but it stands out in the desert.
-
Italian Vegatato works pretty well too in AZ, MultiCam is still the best here BUT I think A-Tacs might be the new way to go here in AZ
-
I was just in allied on saturday an they had a bazillion sets of A-Tacs are you sure you didnt see it? or is it that good of camo?

It probably is that good. Haha. Do you remember how much they were charging. I litterally live 2 minutes away from Allied Surplus.
-
My bad, double post FAIL
-
Guys, this may be slightly off-topic, but how much does Allied charge for a set of DCUs and a set of Desert Marpat BDUs? Sometimes they can be overpriced on stuff like that, and I really don't want to run down there to find out.

Call them, (623) 435-2640, or go to their site (http://www.alliedsurplus.com/index.php).
-
Wow, I can't believe that I forgot their website... thanks anyway.
-
i would go with multicam if i were u, only problem is it's more expensive
-
If you want the best, the obvious choice is desert and woodland marpat.
-
Have you tried Allied Surplus? I got a set of ACUs for $20 total for top and bottom.
