Real Firearms / What once was an airsoft project......
« on: February 16, 2009, 01:43:00 AM »
Is now a fully complete semi-auto belt fed 1919a6 browing machine gun.  8)

If some of you remeber me when I still played airsoft you might remember me working on making an airsoft version of a browning 1919a4 mg to go with all my other WW2 stuff. That seems like yesterday but it was almost four yeas ago. I originaly bouth the parts kit intentionally for making the airsoft gun, but when I did all the modifications and built the internals I made sure not to alter any of the original browning part in case I ever wanted to build it into a real gun. Well, the years went by and though I thougt Id never tire of airsoft I eventualy found other hobbies (some even more exp than airsoft lol) and the parts went on the shelf with all of my other projects.

A couple of weeks ago I decided to dig the ol parts kit it out and see if I still had all the original parts and thankfuly I did. Reason being that I knew with us now being an obamanation I should probably start working on making this shootable while I still could, so I orderd a semi-auto trigger and sear kit with new rivets, and started making the sideplate. The sideplate I made out of T-1 A514 abrasion resistant plate, and using the original blueprints I made it on the CNC mill at work.

This sideplate is different from a full auto plate though because of that large bar shaped island left on the inside. This bar makes it so you have to relif cut the new semi-auto modified bolt and barrel extension so that they fit into the gun. This also make it impossible with this sideplate riveted to the gun to shove any unmodified fully automatic internals into the gun. After I had the sideplate done I installed the semi sear and trigger, and milled the bolt, barrel extension and lock frame so that they would now work with the semi auto plate.

After that that I took the gun to work and riveted the sideplate on and  was ready to tke her out for a test run. 8)

The kit originally came as an isreali reworked to .308, but I just orderd an 8mm barrel for it to cut down on thecost of ammo. It runs like a top on .308 but at 60 cents a round I cont afford to be blazing away (its really easy to do with a belt fed gun be it semi or not lol). Also I was fortunate enough to buy a bnunch of surplus 8mm when it was cheap so Ive got quite a bit of it. The only thing left to do is re-parkerize the gun because of the new sideplate, and also because the vintage WW2 parkerizing is starting to wear off after 60 years.

More to come!

Airsoft Items FOR SALE / Testing the waters.....
« on: September 10, 2008, 08:35:22 PM »
Wow its been a while since Ive been on the forums lol. I like the new layout.  8)

Anyho, I don't play as much airsoft as I used to (been pretty inactive for the past couple of years) so Im thinking of downsizing my collection a bit. Also would be nice to get a little $$ on the side to spend on my newest hobby. Kind of wish I stayed with airsoft in a way lol 4x4s are sooo much more exp to build than an aeg. Would also consider trade for real steel. Heres what I got/thinking of selling:

-Marui psg1

Ive used this gun in maybe two games. Ill bet its had less than 600 rnds through it and most of them were at birds in the backyard. I hollowed out the stock at one point (removed adjustment gear for cheekpiece) to fit a a custom 9.6 nunchuck. If I can find the battery for it ill throw it in too. It shot really good with this battery and trigger resonse was quick. Gearbox may need to be relubed because it been leaning in the closet since I used it last. I put a systema 120 in when I first got it it but Its been in there for a couple of years so theres no telling what it still shoots at. Comes with stock scope and 15rnd stock mag. -Make me an offer

-Marui m1a1 Thompson.

This is my second thompson I bought a couple of years ago. Its not my old beloved one that all you guys remember me using but one I later bought from an AA member. The gearbox may be stock or it may have a 120 in it. Not sure I ever cracked open the gearboxk though I may have. I dont think Ive put more than 1k thorugh it. It runs good, and feeds flawlessly. Somewhere down the road I swapped the upper reciver and barrel from my old thompson on it so theres a bit of fading on the bluing and the hopup rubber may need to be replaced. If anyone is interested let me know and ill swap the original upper back onto it. Dont have a battery that will fit it if I remember I would use the battery from my old thompson with it. I have several standard mags and a couple midcaps (shorties) that I may let a couple go with it. -$250

-Hudson m3a1 grease gun

This I converted to run on green gas/propane. It has taken a couple of spills in its lifetime so some of it is held together with superglue, but it still shoots. Not the most acurate gun out there but it is fun to shoot. The mag leaks but im assuming you can get new orings. Not sure if it was the valve or the seal between the top/bottom half. It dosent like to feed budget bbs due to the mag design and work best with KWAs or other good brands, and it shoots about 400 or so with .23s and green gas. It has a special buffer bar machined and attached to to back of the bolt to keep the green gas from cracking the bolt from the added force. Havent messed with it in a while so Ill have to take a look at it and see what esle is up with it. - $125 OBO

-GBB Tananka p08 luger.

This gun works well with 134a but will shoot alright with green when its not hot out. There is a bit of the back part of the toggle broken off but this dosent affet the function of the pistol at all, and it still shoots fine. I havet shot it in a couple of years but I remember that the bottom of the mag would leak periodically. It has real walnut p08 grips on it that I modified to fit and they look and feel beautiful. Has really neat "toggle" gas blowback action just like the real thing and is a blast to shoot. Last time I remember using it at a game was LCIV. I did once use it in a florence game and shot lightningman right in the glasses lol. Makes a good sidearm if youre going for somting a little unique.  8) - $150 OBO

-X2 10.8 large batteries. Cant remember what MaH they are but damn are they big and can really crank a gearbox over. I got them from gdaqb a while ago and they were too big to fit in any of my guns. Ive maybe charged each of them twice. -SPF

I have some other stuff I may want to get rid of but still cant remember all of what I have. I do have a custom AEG system I was working on to make an AEG out of a 1919a4 parts kit. Hade it about %90 finished when I lost interest and decided to make a semi auto out of the parts kit.

Pics to come. If you guys remember that I had somthing 'way back in the day let me know if youre interesed and Ill seee if I still have it. BAR is off limits for now lol.

Real Firearms / :Finnished!: My Pennsylvainia rifle!
« on: January 15, 2006, 05:30:12 PM »
Heres someting that Ive been working on for the past few weeks that I finally finished, so I kind of felt that I would share some of my real firearm craftmenship with you guys. And I know most you guys are much more intrested and influenced by more modern weapons (so am I to some degree), so try to keep an open mind. :)

I recently purchased from Dixie Gun Works, a .45 cal Pedersoli Pennsylvainia rifle kit. The kit itself was mostly finished when I got it, minus the most of the stock of course. For as long as I can remember, even from my childhood, I had always wanted a flintlock long gun. I was fastinated by the idea of nearly 300 years ago, american gunsmiths were making rifles that could even now days have nearly the range and acuracy of a modern cartrige weapons. The spark of the flint, the flash of the prining in the pan, and the boom of the shot gave me a feeling of nostalgia I couldnt pass up. Freshly 18, and saving money from a full time job sent me browsing throug the Dixie Gun Works catalog.  So three weeks, and $600 later, I had my long awaited fastination on my doorstep.

All of the stock work, sanding and staining/finishing was all, done by me. It took about two weeks to apply about eight or nine coats of tung oil, and finally a rubbed wax over sealent. This was the traditional way of doing it. Some very experienced black powder gunsmiths take years on their stock finishing, with hand mixed stains and oils, and letting each coat dry for months before rubbing it down and applying another.

The rifle itself is a nail driver. 60 grains of of fff black powder and a .440 pached round ball will give me as much range as my. 30-30 marlin, and with about the acuracy of the nicer of my two SMLE Enfields. It has a 38" barrel, which makes the overall length about 56". I havent got a chance to get a grouping yet, because I havent been to the range, but it still proved itself even though we were only out in the bushes shooting rocks and cans. With the first shot I took, I it hit an aluminum water bottle at 150 yards dead center, through and through. It may be a little slow on loading, but the excitement of shooting more than makes up for it.

So there you have it. It may not be the newest type of weapon around, but it surely is my favorite. :) And I hope that some other people who appreciate the nostalgia of muzzleloading guns can relate to my experiences. And I know you AA guys wont hesitate to comment on my liking of old shit too! :D!!

Accessories & Gear / What the?! A glow in the dark WE?!
« on: December 03, 2005, 07:02:28 PM »
http://www.wgcshop.com/pcart/shopper.ph ... GFY_srch_1

I thought Id seen everything and every little trinket available on the airsoft market, and this up and comes out of nowhere. First Off I ask myself, how? Its never like anything Ive ever seen for any type of airsoft gun that I know of. Ive heard of glow in the dark tracer bbs, but never have I even contimplated a glow in the dark GUN. Secondly, why? Who would want to have a gun that gives away their position in the dark. Maybe it is just so rad that it dosent even matter. :D Its for the WE high capa, a growningly popular and affordable pistol. I dont even have one of these, and I still wonde why someone would go to the lengths to make somthing like this.

It comes in three colors, Yellow, Green and Red.

"Theres somthing you dont see everyday"!

All of DEA owe a huge thanks to Paco, and the rest of AA for graciously creating us a team forum for our use on their site!
I know that in the near future it will become an invaluable tool to keep in touch and up to date with all of our fellow players located in central arizona, and also help us to make new ones alike. We have played alongside many AA members from times before, and I look forward to having the honer in the near future.

Once again, our thanks go out to you guys!

General Airsoft Discussion / Former Tucson Airsoft pics
« on: June 27, 2005, 04:00:09 PM »
For everyone who were all part of the short lived but great team that was Tucson Arisoft, Here are some photos that I took at one of our last weekends at the creek. Ive had these for some time, but Ive never thought of posting them, because they have no relevence towards the current team I am with, SATAC. There are few actual photos of the time we had at this place, and the place was honestly the best I have ever played at. Theres nothing like being able to play every weekend at a place only 15 mins away, but seemed as if it were half way across the world. I have great memories of driving home every saturday with water and river sand in my boots.

Anyway, use these pictures to remember how it used to be.

Sixty one years ago today, more than 5,000 american soldiers gave their lives for their country fighting in the largest invasion in american history. At the very moment that you may be reading this, and more than six decades ago at that exact  moment in time, our boys in arms were selflessly fighting to preserve our way of life. Some of you may have relatives or friends who know first hand how terrible of an ordeal that they relentlessly fought through. Thousands of miles from home, they tirelessly pushed on. From the infantry, who fought head on into the beach head. To the airborne, who jumped from their planes into seemingly almost certain death. And the navy and coast guard, who gave our men help from the seas, be it shelling pillboxes from the coast,or landing LCTs multiple times in the heat of battle. By the end of the day, Operation Overlord was deemed a success.  And for this enormous sacrifice that occured on one day in history, we can still hold our american way of living for ourselves. So do not disreguard this day as anyother day that may pass you by. But use it to remember. That the greatest generation of the last century willingly gave up their lives in overwhelming numbers to protect what we all hold dear.
