M40A3???
« on: October 05, 2010, 08:41:25 PM »
Where could I find and buy an airsoft M40A3? I know I can get a VSR10 and get the Fortress stock buy that seems like it would end up being fairly pricey and I'm not sure if the fortress stock would really be worth the $400 price tag. I also don't want the UTG pos one

Thank you

Buy a real McMillan stock, then adapt it to either the spring or gas platforms available.

Only $100 more than the fortres. Would really suck to mess something up in the process of adapting it

Bolt action sniper rifles in Airsoft are kind of moot, unless you want to stalk around all day in a ghillie, they are not effective.. siome will argue this but I've learned it throughout the years of trying to do it. You are better off building a DMR type rifle. If the M40a3 is really what you want, contact Ben Noji @ Polarstar and he will bed the stock for you.

As for a DMR. The best stock platform I have seen is the KWA SR12 (hence why I am buying one)

I've had 3 bolt action snipers since I began airsofting years ago, I loved all of them and probably had the most fun with them out of any of my other guns. I sold them all also because they became to be more pricey then I really wanted to pay. But now I have the funds to start a project Bolt Action gun and want it to be a M40A3. Also how much, if you had to guess, would it cost to have the stock bedded?

I'm not a fan of DMR's since they basically perform a task that my M4 could do with a 3x magnifyer attached

No idea, just contact them. Probably more than you are willing to pay for the whole project. Even once you get the outside stuff done, then you have a 150ft gun depending on what you start with...Might want to just get something that works and upgrade it.

DMR's aren't just an m4. I have a GBB DMR that is very accurate and shoots up to 600fps and is accurate within 5fps. More importantly, I can just dial down or up the fps in a few seconds. A "DMR" is nice because you can take quick follow up shots if needed.

My thoughts exactly

Another reason I would prefer a bolt action over a DMR is because I find it adds alot more fun to have to reck a bolt back then just pull the trigger and watch bb's fly. But a GBB DMR would allow me to perform both of those

I like my M99 because it's silent
Granted, the bolt is hard to pull back because I put in such a hard spring (hopefully it'll go down in time), but it's extremely satisfying to get a well placed shot rather than your average spam

I agree, I had a bar 10 that could hit a coke can at about 100ft 8/10 times and at 150ft 5/10 times
