drop-in gearbox
« on: July 08, 2012, 03:03:17 PM »
What is the best drop-in gearbox you can buy with $100something budget...

Are the aim top gearbox es from evike good?
I'm kinda thinking of getting the tornado speed one...

Any suggestions?

Or should i just save some more money and get the g4-a5 desert knight?

I like how the matrix/aeg (asia electric gun) sr-16 urx looks, but i don't trust Asia electric gun...

Help...

I am assuming you mean a version 2 gearbox? Well you could try these gearboxes. not too expensive and should get the job done fairly well

http://www.evike.com/product_info.php?products_id=29773 (cheap jg one but for 50$ not too bad)

http://www.evike.com/product_info.php?products_id=33550 (looks like the jg enhanced, cheap "mosfet" and these have some decent internals)

the JG ones are ok for the price, but i hear the AIM gearboxes are a bit on the lower quality side, but i personally have never used one so i cannot say for sure.

If you get one of the aim top gearboxes, than I'd reccomend you get it re-shimmed

I picked up a couple of those CYMA V2 MP5 gears boxes. I purchased them just for the reinforced gear box. But if you are going to buy these as a "drop-in" that wont work.

To make these work as a standard V2 gearbox you will need to change the nozzle, tappet plate, wire harness and selector plate. I would also consider changing out the cylinder, cylinder head and spring.

I really like the G&P gear boxes but have had very poor luck with the Matrix/AIM gear boxes.
