Over Spin...
« on: September 01, 2012, 07:46:05 PM »
I had a problem with my m4 for a long time now...

Just now i read comments on youtube saying that it's called over spin...

What is the best way to fix this?

Some say to get a mosfet/active breaking...

Some say it happens when you have a "big" battery... I'm running a 11.1v 20c lipo

Some say the motor is too strong for the spring... I'm using a jg/echo1 blue motor and a hard spring i got from green listerine... Don't know the exact type...

Help...

Either put in a heavier spring, weaker motor, or weaker battery

I swaped the the tm motor with the jg motor... Seems to work... But i can really test it yet because i don't have a place to shoot it here in our new apartment... And i don't have a chrono a.k.a  alumin soda can...

The motor I gave you was a JG m42.. Tons of torque. Just cycle the gearbox and see if swapping the motors worked. Motors make no difference in fps

Let me try to help and understand this. When you run the gun on semi dose it fire the first round than cycle it about half way or something. Is when you fire it the piston is not all the way forward for the next shot. If that is the issue I would fix it with a active brakeing mosfet. If not than im not to sure.

The easiest solution is a heavier spring, and SS to meet fps limits.. The AB MOSFET will help but also  create more wear, and be more pricey (unless he makes his own of course..)

Heavier spring, lower rpm motor, higher torque gears, lower amp/voltage battery. Those are your fixes that won't wear out components prematurely (active braking hurts several pieces of the system including the motor).

Keep in mind though, that parts have a lifespan most easily measured in # of bb's shot. So if something will last 50k bb's before failure, the more quickly you spin those parts, the more quickly you reach that 50k number.

My preference is 7.4v 15-25c batteries to avoid such issues.
