Hopefully they can make it so the things are reliable, or at least easy to fix. But knowing how the DOD is in their buying I doubt it will happen. It has taken them over 5 years (that I've been in the service) to fix the problem with the M930A1 &A2 series 5 ton tractor brakes. So it will come out then be "deadlined" for a while due to some serious fault, only to be repaired or the fault corrected and some othe fault to appear.

But it does look cool and I like the Idea of a body suit AC! esp since most military vehicles only have 2-55 a/c (2 windows at 55mph).

What you mean they did away with the removable soft tops on the duece and a half? At least then you had 3-60 AC, we use to drive a little faster in the old days. Damn, you could aways bring your battery operated fan with you....

Well until recently the m930 series of 5ton trucks had a Max speed of 45MPH. The reasoining for this was a brake system that would Lock and then roll the vehicle during a "panic" stop. There was stories of people slaming the brakes on and the engine stalling out then the truck rolls. The have "fixed" this by installing a Anti-lock Brake System, but only raised the "official" vehicle speed limit to 55mph. So when your convoying you must go only as fast as your slowest vehicle. Actual speed are closer to 60-65 but that is between me and the wall if anyone asks.

For those of us in more "well funded" units, the FMTC does the trick, it's got NBC overpressure and AC. Nice bucket seats as well...

Well Funded? whats that??? LoL, actually we have been getting some new equipment as of late (gave our old P.O.S. stuff to the 259th Eng Co!) Don't know when we will get our FMTVs but we have been authorized to swap our 5 tons for them. But because of the price differance between a dump truck and a FMTV we may have to wait a while.

By "well funded" I mean this, {keep in mind I started out in Armor) The last time we went to the "field" we had our meals catered. That's right, top had us do the tactical chow line to a huge banquet table with chaffing dishes set up buffet style, in the MIDDLE OF THE DESERT. That's aviation for ya, doesn't get ANY more posh than that... Oh yeah forgot to mention the issue air beds in place of cots... no joke.

Turd out

What about those Pinzgauers? Those have got to be fun. I saw a six wheeler with chrome rims and custom seats for the rear, which I think seated eight. Where else are you gonna find chrome rims and a ring mount on the same vehicle? (Raptor Suburban excluded) I would have seriously considered buying that setup if it weren't for the total lack of security. I mean in the feild you dont need door locks, but at a Taco Bell halfway to California they might be a good idea.
