I don't know how well those would work for airsoft anyway, since I doubt they are ANSI rated, nor will they allow you to use goggles (eye protection).

Paco I have worn these and they do cover allot of the face! Your eyes are totally covered (which is very good!)
With a helmet and these the only thing exposed is you mouth and chin.
As to the ANSI rated....the tubes are solid glass and a plastic bb is virtually impossible to go through them.....Now live rounds that is another thing!

"solid glass" has nothing to do with being ANSI rated. In fact, I have yet to see any glass items that are ANSI Z87.1 rated.
The #1 requirement for playing airsoft is that EVERYONE must use eyewear that not only completely covers and protects the eyes, but it MUST conform to the ANSI Z87.1 impact resistance rating. I am not speaking to anyone in particular, just bringing it up. If you don't like it - sorry - this is NOTHING new! It's stated in the rules and regulations that EVERYONE has read, agreed to and signed that they will abide by. Most of all, it's for EVERYONE's safety, not to make things tough to comply with.

OK! OK! OK! PACO! Don't blow a gasket!
You sound like your very defensive!?
I just stated what I found and it is up to that person that uses them to comply! I just sell them I don't know what there intent is?
If this is a big deal then there should be no night vision used on ANY game and that means no NIGHT GAMES!?
Then there is nothing to worry about! RIGHT??
Just my 2 cents worth.

Oh by the way..."Solid Glass" is about 5" thick
Just thought that you would like to know that? Again I dought that a plastic bb can go through that?

Just my 1 cent more.

lol... not defensive at all. I just didn't want people to go spend $500 on NV thinking that they would be "just fine" (and safe) to use in airsoft without *remembering* what everyone should already know.

Why can't there be night games in airsoft without nightvision? lol... I have played in quite a few night games and didn't use night vision equipment.

You make it sound like I have the problem with it?[:(] Anyway what ever!

Do the army use there Eyes only?
I know that you can play without NV but it would make it safer if you can see what you are shooting at in total darkness!?[B)]

Yes I have even played in the woods at night with no full moon! Trying to shoot someone without a flashlight or some kind of help is only asking for trouble![xx(]

Remember once the bb has left the gun only God knows the outcome if the player(s) you think your shooting at who's goggles or glasses don't fall off before it reaches him!? Right?[;)]

Eradicator, you left out the part of what you quoted above where I said "I am not speaking to anyone in particular, just bringing it up." Apply that to what you quoted me as saying and you will see that I am NOT "mak[ing] it sound like [you] have the problem with it". It was a general comment directed towards EVERYONE.

I have to ask... why would goggles "fall off" at night (and not during the day)? If you have goggles or glasses that can "fall off" as you say, you should NOT be using them for airsoft whether it's day or night!

You can't really compare the US Army to airsoft in terms of ballistic protection (apples to oranges here). It's not as critical for the military to use such eye protection because if you're in the Army and get shot in the eyes, it won't matter what your goggles, glasses or NV is rated at... in airsoft, we want to 'survive' that eye shot that can (and does) happen, and using ANSI Z87.1 rated eyewear is the most effective way to do that.

There's no point in continuing this - there's nothing to debate! All I pointed out is that no one should expect to buy NV goggles and use them for airsoft without making sure that they are somehow using eye protection that is rated at least for ANSI Z87.1.

I am not attacking you Eradicator, just providing general information/reminders; so please don't take offense!

Paco, I'm not trying to be a jerk or anything, (I totally agree that everyone should have adequate eye protection) but I can not find anything in the rules about eyewear having to meet the ANSI Z87.1 rating.
The rules state:

quote:
All players on the field must wear adequate protection at all times in the playing area. We recommend that a player wear full face protection, however, it is your decision. No player will be allowed on the field without adequate eye protection.
