Left Handed Sniper Compatibility?
« on: July 29, 2010, 09:29:35 PM »
So I'm tossing around the idea of possibly getting a sniper rifle. The TSD MK96 to be exact. My question is, in the pictures on AirsoftGI (where I would purchase it from) make it look left handed...even the cheek rest is on the left side O.o. However, nowhere, across multiple sites and reviews, have I read anything about it actually BEING left handed. Well, since I am...you can imagine how this information is of great importance to me :P. If anyone has had any experience with this specific sniper I'd also love to hear about it, along with its compatibility with lefties. Thanks! :)

I'm pretty sure its a right-handed sniper, but I could be wrong. Even if it is, I'm pretty sure you can buy a left-handed bolt.

Cool thanks. Is there really much of an advantage to sniping in airsoft? I mean there are certain aspects of it that might seem advantageous over an AEG (if you play the role correctly) but also you only get about 60-80 feet of extra distance unless you spend like $300 in upgrades...what's your take on it?

I say dont get a sniper unless you plan on putting a ton of upgrades into it. Spend/save up for a good aeg. It could be more effective depending how/where you play.

Yeah that also kinda seems to be the general consensus from what I've seen of the sniping community. Maybe I'll look into getting a silencer and longer+tightbore barrel for my M4 and start there. Thanks guys!

You should get a gas sniper instead.

You don't get an edge in the game for free...

Lol well yeah but expensive is a different story O.o.... I'm not as rich as I'd like to be haha.

Edit: Actually that was horrible wording on my part XP. I'm nowhere near rich, but either way I can't really afford super awesome fancy guns. :P

I'm also kicking around the idea of a springer sniper (L96).  As the other replies noted I dont think any spring snipers will really give a "sniping" element to regular games as far as range / accuracy.  But I think a cheap one might be a fun prop for a sniper game scenario, such as a sniper hunt etc. (hunters maybe only have spring pistols to give the sniper an advantage?)  If I see a cheap L96 or equivalent go up for sale I might consider it just for the fun factor of the "sniper" rifle and not for the thought of using it as such in a regular game.

Has anyone done such a game with a sniper and had any success (success being balanced enough to be fun?)

Sniper rifles at games do little to nothing to help their team. Airsoft is too fast paced to allow for any stalking and the range of the rifles as compared to the full auto counterparts gives their users little or no advantage.

You would be more of a help on the field with a good radio than a sniper rifle.

Semi auto DMRs are a better way to go, or just stick with your AEG and be more sneaky.

@Pick Well yeah i agree with you on that but what Ganef said pretty much sums up why I'll probably just use the money to upgrade my M4 instead. It'd be fun to get one one day maybe just for practice and intimidation in games, but since it's not a necessity I'll probably focus my limited budget elsewhere for the rime being. :)

@DMAN007 Thanks for the offer but I'll respectfully decline for the reasons stated above. Plus i dunno why but those ASRs just always looked weirs to me for some reason lol.
