Stealth load-out: i need opinions
« on: October 22, 2013, 09:32:59 AM »
Alright... So i got a friend of mine that finally joined my team after so long of him wanting to do this, and i want to make him my partner on the field, but for that, he needs a load out that will fit mine, and the title says is it all. Does anyone out there have good ideas as to what i should get him?

my budget is 300$

I got the Uniform part covered.

Something not involving sniping.

Preferably something that you have first hand experience on.

For something like that, other than open top magazine pouches and getting someone to build you a whisper-quiet gearbox I'm not sure what else to suggest, as everything else boils down to comfort and what is required by the individual user

You should check on craigslist. Their are some real good deals on there that usually you can talk the price down on these little kids who don't know what they have.

-Low-profile chest rig or plate carrier.
-Belt with dump pouch
-waist-mounted serpa holster (something that wont toggle all about when running- like the holsters that strap to your leg)
-MIDCAP MAGS. For m4's, Kwa Ctr mags are the most recommended.
-a well-shimmed, solid, (perhaps sound-dampening kit installed) gun. But i guess this one doesn't really matter.
I realize that while most people suck, there are still some genuine characters that exist out here. I'll show my appreciation by being genuine in return.
Love the sport.

well i stealth would be more along the lines of CQB. so the best weapons would be anything compact that is light and easy to move with. with pistols i would go with something like a glock or a HI capa.( i use a glock because it holds a lot and is easy to use but hi capa's are way more reliable ) as far as primary i would use P90 UZI Mac10/11 or even something with a collapsible stock like the G36c or UMP.
When all else fails...I don't..

You're not giving much to go on. Is this a GEAR load out or a COMPLETE load out (gun, mags, gear, ect.)? What is your load out, so that we can recommend things that match or at least compliment your load out? Where are you going to be playing mostly?

As far as my personal experience with "stealth", it's more about the player than the equipment. It's very easy to be "stealthy" when people are wearing masks or goggles that cover their ears. Tends to dampen noise very well. Footsteps tend to give be what gives people away, especially end playing in the forest or in a river bottom. Not much you can do about that. Rubber soled boots (or even Chuck Taylors) dampen footsteps indoors and outdoors, to a lesser extent.

Yes, midcaps do keep noise down, but polymer hicaps aren't excessively noisy. My G36 and SIG hicaps stay quiet unless I'm shaking the gun like a maraca. Those 400 round METAL G&G hicaps, on the other hand, sound like dinner bells. Another reason to consider polymer mags is your dump pouch. I've had times where I thought that the sound of my metal M14 mags in my dump pouch were broadcasting my location.

Speaking of metal clanking, don't go with a rail system and tape your sling swivels with some matte black or OD duct tape. Those things sound like give a distinct "ding" when they hit a rail system or the outer barrel of an M4. Polymer guns, like the G36 or UMP, are much more friendly as far as noise goes with one point slings.

As far as rigs go, obviously you don't want to have snap closures or velcro. Bungee cord retainers are your friend. This is a bigger deal in CQB than in the field, but it helps whenever you're close in with your opponents. Depending on the platform you're running, something like a Chi-Com Type 56 chest rig or a US LBV (with the top flaps tucked into the pouches or cut off) work great. Both are cheap as dirt, so you can modify and paint them to whatever camo scheme or preference you would like. If you have to have MOLLE, then Condor makes a nice chest rig that carries more M4 mags than you'll ever need, has a hydration carrier built in, and a decent amount of MOLLE for about $50. I haven't had any experience with it, but Condor also makes a rig called the "Ronin". It has enough MOLLE to attach some mag pouches and that's all. The main advantage is that you won't get weighed down with things you think you'll need.

Again, as I said up top, being sneaky is more of a skill than your equipment. Learn to use cover and concealment to avoid being spotted. Take the long way to get where you're going. Learn that you don't have to shoot every "bad guy" you see. Get into a good position with a good field of vision, decent cover, and an escape route before raising hell. It's 99% mental.

I agree with Bob 100%, what is your loadout? Where do you airsoft? As far as stealth get plastic or polymer midcaps, quiet as possible aeg, and quiet boots or shoes(The Apache used leather and were very quiet, good alternative would be skeletoes or a boot similar to it with the foot not so raised up). Other than that it is experience and skill.

Make sure your gear isn't too bulky and doesn't rattle around.  No hicaps, no speed loaders. Otherwise like the others have said, experience is what helps the most.  Whoever you are firing at is going to hear you regardless of how quiet your AEG is unless you're a considerable distance away.

Thanks guys, all suggestions accounted for, and when i mean gear, i was referring just to the Uniform/ Camouflage. but stuff for mag pouches, weapons, gadgets, rigs are what i needed clarification, Bob, i completely agree, that's exactly what i told him too, but i know your gear and proper camo is a quarter of the battle, like i said, he is new, i'm trying to help him, so i figured if i start him with quality gear and suggestions i have taken off of the thread. He might learn faster and retain more experience on the field.

No Highcaps, noise canceling headphones. Sling is paracord to body, no buckles, no metal mounts. Muffle charging handle. Cut all the velcro tops off your mag pouches, maybe elastic, maybe bare top.

As little exterior molle as possible. No plate carriers.

Tuck pants into boots, shirt into pants. Roll up sleeves/

Like what most others have said, no highcaps/speed loaders. Also try and keep everything as tight fitting as possible. No shemaghs or anything else that gets caught up on branches easily, keep the cord from your mic as secure as possible. Best ways to keep hidden? Don't get in a hurry, take the time to pick the best routes and don't be afraid to get into the dirt, the lower to the ground the better.

Here's what I'd do for a stealth loadout:
  • IWB Holster
  • IWB Magazine Carrier
  • Blue Jeans
  • White T-Shirt
  • Paintball Mask
  • Handheld Video Camera
