G & P 130rd Standard M4 Magazine - Mini-review!

Well, I got in some of these puppies a few days ago.  From the outside they seemed normal, just like any other mag (minus the winding wheel), but I can't remember if they were plastic or metal, but it may have been plastic... too lazy to go downstairs and check =).  Anyway, I went and got my loading rod and loaded it up.  Of course, it took 2 full rods, which is amazing in itself.  Two things I noticed at this point.  The Bad: The spring is pretty stiff (may not load with autoloader).  The Good: The spring is pretty stiff (harder to outpace the BB feeding).

At this point, I ran into my backyard with my M16 and grabbed the mag.  One problem here... the fit was VERY tight.  I think it was because I have the Systema Metal body on mine, but the thing was not gonna come out on its own.  A slight pull and it was out like usual, but getting it in there I had to slap it a little harder than I would a Marui mag.  I think the problem here mioght be the scaling.  From what I've read, Marui scales their guns to just under real size.  So, when I tried a real .223 mag in my airsoft m16 it wouldn't load at all... I think the G&P may be a little more true to reality, but in a plastic body it should fit fine.  Anyway, the tight fit prevented rattle, so after crawling around (silently) in my back yard, I flicked the selector.  Lo and behold, the thing worked beautifully in semi.  A couple of times it popped 2 BB's into the 'chamber' (i think because of the spring strength), but I'm sure that will go away with use.  After I got bored with semi, I flipped it into auto.  Here is where it really shined =)  It didn't skip once!  I resumed my favorite practice of cutting weeds with the stream of BB's flying from my gun.  Only when I was reaching for the mag to instinctively change the "small" standard, it kept shooting!  I know that sounds pretty obvious, but the joy of one-handed quasi-hi-cap firing is nearly transcendant (okay maybe not, but not having to wind is great).  The thing kept on spitting out BB's and by the time I went inside, twice as many weeds loathed the existence of the new G&P mag...

So, in conclusion, if you dont' mind a tight fit or filing the mag a little to make it fit a little better, buy these.  If you want awesome capacity sans winding, buy them.  If you just wasted a ton of money on CA standards, buy these (ahem, Kyle).  If you want to get some, I'll be ordering within a week or two, so if there is large demand, I'll get em as soon as you want em.  Still $25.
