WTB someone who can solder...
« on: December 20, 2010, 11:18:00 AM »
Hey I just finally got some Dean's connectors for my AEG. I am very mechanically inclined and do most if not all of all my own work, but I have never soldered anything before and I am kind of a perfectionist. I was wondering if I could borrow anyone's time who is good at soldering and see if they could help me out? Of course I would be happy to pay your for your time and materials used during the process. If anyone is good at soldering and doesn't mind helping a fellow "airsofter" out that would be great.

Parts to be soldered include...

custom M4 wired to the rear in VLTOR stock
smart charger
two 9.6V 1600

I have the deans connectors already

Probably not worth YOUR time, but if you want to drive up to Prescott, I could show you how to do it.

Qualified and Certified to solder?  Is that a joke or something?  It's a basic electronics skill you can learn in high school.  For airsoft purposes, you don't even have to be good at it to get the job done.

Ya believe it or not you can be and need to be certified in order to work in certain digital electronic applications so no not a joke. Basically its the difference between your device actually working and staying in top notch condition or a lead breaking off because its not soldered properly.

1.  Being certified in various electronic fields does not equal "certified to solder"
2.  We aren't soldering capacitors to PCB boards.  We are soldering 16awg wire to large connectors.
3.  I'm sure you are quite proficient at soldering.  But he doesn't need a rocket scientist to get help with his issue.

Whoa such hostility in my post! I was just asking for help because I am a perfectionist in all my projects. Sure I could probably solder the connectors and would they work... Probably. I just figured there might be someone here in PHX who is far more experienced then myself. Thanks to all that posted and gave me information, it's much appreciated!

Umm, arguing over soldering?  ](*,)

Anyways, if you want, I can help you do it, or show you how to do it. And if you'd like I can take you over to Harbor Freight and get you set up with everything you need to do it yourself for ~$30.

I still need to help "thegovernator" with this too, you could prob come over here at the same time if you want, cook two birds with one soldering iron?

I'm in N/E Mesa.
