Title: Mich TC-2000 Helmet Group Buy
Post by: Kurn on August 02, 2005, 12:32:01 AM
Mikey showed me these eBay auctions for replica TC-2000 helmets - (Helmet on eBay (http://cgi.ebay.com/MICH-TC-2000-BALLISTIC-KEVLAR-HELMET-ARC-GALLET-AIRSOFT_W0QQitemZ6549755046QQcategoryZ36068QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem))

I know I want one for Op Irene and I think there are probably others that do as well.  This guy has them available in tan, olive drab, and black.  Raith and I are hoping to get a group buy together to perhaps cut the guy a deal.

In order to figure this out and get some numbers to give to the guy, I want to find out who would be interested in one.  You don't have to be going to Irene to pick one up, but we're probably going to require money up front to prevent deadbeats.

List:
Kurn - Tan
Raith - Tan
Ganef - Tan
studdermonkey - Tan
Nil8r - Tan
Vince - Tan
Mugen - Tan
gixser13 - Tan
Victor3 - Tan (2001, if possible)
MicrowvbleTurtle - Tan (only if 2001 or 2002 can be ordered)
azsarge - OD (only if 2002 can be ordered)
Shado - Tan (2002, if possible)
-MAD- SARGE - Tan (2002 or 2000)

Did you check their regular website? They have the TC2001 style also. They are more...$59.00, but I'd rather have one of those if anyone else does, but at any rate I'll take either style in tan.

If your gear is OD, I would get an OD helmet.  But you could also paint the helmet a tan/OD pattern so that it works with either.  You could also get the helmet in one color, then get a helmet cover in the opposite color (or for that matter get a reversible helmet cover).

Okay, so the TC-2000s on ebay are $29.99 each.  Shipping is then $19.99 each.

That comes out to $49.98.

Edited because math is overated.

Their website is selling the TC-2002s for $59.99.
All orders above $50 receive free shipping to any state in the U.S.

That comes out to $59.99.

I'd rather go with a TC-2002.

If you want to buy a TC-2002 for $59.99, feel free.

The point of this particular thread is to find out who would be interested in a helmet so that we can see if perhaps a discount is available if several helmets are purchased at once.

If a discounted rate can apply to a "mixed" selection of helmets (TC-2000s, or TC-2001s, and TC-2002s) then thats great.  If it can't, THIS group purchase is for replica TC-2000s.

My post did sound rather pompous.

My main intent was to inform others that may be interested in the TC-2001 that it is not much more expensive.

If whoever is currently discussing the discount with the seller could get him to throw in a TC-2001 in tan I'd be interested.  I would also greatly appreciate it.

Nah, its cool.

I hadn't really considered it, but you're right.  If it ends up that a reduced price can be had regardless of helmet type, its quite alright for anyone to get whatever style helmet they like.

I haven't asked the seller yet, so its possible that there is no discount available.

I've dealt with this ebay seller's retail website before. He's good for the gear and all, but he's a little spotty with airsoft guns. Maybe it's just his wording on the site, but there have been claims of completely full metal M93RIIs on his site when he doesn't have any in stock.

As for the helmet thing, why don't you guys try cheaperthandirt.com, I'm getting my MICH from them and the whole thing shipped was like $40.

Good luck.  Several months ago Raith and I ordered two TC-2000 helmets from them.  When we received them we discovered that that had sent the less expensive PASGT helmet.  Upon closer examination, we found that they had just slapped a "MICH Replica" sticker over the original "PASGT Replica" label.  We were able to get a refund (minus the shipping), but they won't be getting any of my business any time soon.

I didn't see the 2002s on their website.

I'd really take either 2001 or 2002.  Just depends upon if the seller is willing to include some.

Dear Matt,

On the regular TC-2000 we can do $30 each. On the cut off ones we can do $50. The cut off ones our cost is significantly higher.

If you have any further questions, suggestions or comments please feel free to email me right back.

Same thing happened to me.

Rather than a refund, though, I gave the thing to my nephew.  He's now the only kid on his block with a PASGT that's called a "MITCH."

Id be up for one (2002 or 2000 TAN), have a few questions.  Are they standard one size and are adjustable with the inner suspension?  Basically I wear a 7 1/4 if this is needed.  Also, How much do covers usually run?  Thanks.

Cancel that. I just found this giant forest green football helmet I'll wear to OPI3! It'll kick ass! Since it's green, it'll match with the team!

These have a four point strap and removable pads that are held in with Velcro.  The straps are adjustable and the pads can be replaced with smaller or larger ones, but I don't know where you could buy some or what the price would be (You could probably make some if you had the right materials).  I'm not sure how well they would fit your size head, but the straps should have a wide range of adjustment.

Real covers are about $30:

I don’t want to volunteer anyone, but there also may be certain members of this forum that could make you a cover.

Hey guys.  I am new to the forum so I hope this isnt out of line.

If he said he was willing to do $30 on the 2000, thats all he is charging on ebay unless it also includes shipping.  Also in his latest auction he shows all three models.  I would be intrested in a 2000 or 2002.

http://cgi.ebay.com/MICH-TC-2000-BALLIS ... dZViewItem (http://cgi.ebay.com/MICH-TC-2000-BALLISTIC-KEVLAR-HELMET-ARC-GALLET-AIRSOFT_W0QQitemZ6551761207QQcategoryZ36068QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem)

I also dont know how to post the cool "ebay auction" link things so if a Mod wants to fix that it would be cool.

Alright, heres the latest -

Last I heard from evike.com was August 2nd, and I've emailed them 3 times since.  I have no idea if they're going to get back to me or not.  Perhaps they don't want our business.

I've emailed Airsoft Extreme about a similar group buy to see what they have to say.  They have a replica TC-2000 helmet on their main page.  I don't know if its the same helmet or not and they only seem to have the TC-2000 style on their webpage, but I'll see what they reply with.

Sorry about the delay.

Figures... Just as I finish sending an email to AEX, I check my mail and find a response from Evike.com -

Quote from: "evike.com"
Dear Matt,

The helmets we can do $30 each plus the exact shipping and handling cost, let us know how many and we can quote you on s/h, we have very good rates with Fedex. We charge more shipping and handling via ebay because of the high ebay charges. But if you order direct via phone or from our website you save a lot of s/h.

Helmet001 we have in OD, Tan and black, we have it in stock.

Helmet002 and 003 (with the cut off) are special orders which is at least $15 more per helmet because they cost us much more. We don't have large quantity of these in stock so you will need to order them at least 1 week in advance.

If you have any further questions, suggestions or comments please feel free to email me right back.

Please include original message in your replies.
Thank you and have a nice day.

Yes, this replica order is a PITA, but there isn't exactly a demand for plastic helmets in sandland if ya get my drift. ;)

Wait, weren't the helmets being sold for $30 anyway?  Where's the group buy discount?  Guess it depends on how much of a deal we get on s/h.  Hey Raith, can you find out if they have an XL sized 2000 helmet next time you talk to them?  I emailed them and got no response.
Title:
Post by: azsarge on August 13, 2005, 08:00:05 AM
XL?  If they are sized anything like the real ones, there is no XL.  The pads can be rearranged to allow use by those with large domes.

Alright, updated helmet situation -

Evike hasn't gotten back to me again and I'm fed up with them.

So like I said, I sent an email to Airsoft Extreme about their MICH replicas, and got back good news.

My first response from AEX -

Quote from: "airsoftextreme.com"
Hello Matt,

Thank you for your inquiry.  Andrew says "hi."  They are in stock and we can offer you a bulk price of $35 per helmet for 10-12.
Thanks!

Airsoft Extreme Sales

I like this deal.  Although, its only for TC-2000s (The full kind) there should be, according to my numbers, at least 12 of us that would go for TC-2000s.  I'm not sure on the colors yet.  Personally, I don't mind what color they are.  Krylon makes this really thin helmet cover that sprays on.

I would like to be able to have them sent individually to everyone, but I'm not sure if thats possible.  I'll find out.

I'll contact, by PM, those that expressed possible interest in the TC-2000.  The price may change if a few people don't want them.

More to come.
Title:
Post by: Greg on August 18, 2005, 02:44:31 AM
I'd like to get one. I don't really care about color. OD or Tan, whatever they will do. I suppose OD would be preferred if we get a choice. The TC2000 is fine with me, too. I don't even care about shipping to me. You can just give it to me at Irene, if that's a problem.
Title:
Post by: KamikazeSM on August 18, 2005, 02:59:21 AM
I'd like to get in on this if at all possible.  Sorry about the late notice, but I've been in and out of town and not on the forums much.  I'd go for a tan 2000 and I'll pick it up from you or something.
Title:
Post by: -MAD- SARGE on August 18, 2005, 11:08:55 AM
Thats a great deal, even though I wanted a 2002 I will go with a 2000.  Ill go with OD now instead of tan, I dont have time to deal with a cover. Later I may try Matts method of using a Krylon super thin helmet cover : )   Make no mistake, I will take what ever color they have, even if it is black.

Lightfighter sells MICH covers.

Do we know how much protection these things give? I'd assume it would be similar to a protec. Hopefully it has some padding inside. I don't really want one of these just to "look cool", I want it for Irene to prevent something like my dad's SASCO incident and not look like an idiot for wearing a protec to be "like delta force."

No thanks.

And, me being on an extreme tight budget, buying a gun, and parts for a real one before Irene like a dork, I can't afford a helmet cover! Stick me for an OD one. :-(

Awesome. I'm getting an OD helmet to use bare at Irene, but would you be able to make a CB cover for later use? Would they be the type with the pocket on the back and all?

Helmets will be ordered tomorrow.  Shorly thereafter, I'll get a crapload of helmets in the mail.  Then we'll figure out the distribution.

We could have a OPI 3 party somewhere, eat, get haircuts, distribute helmets, and finalize travel arrangements.  Oh and talk general BS but only after travel and gear arrangements are all done!  We are too easily distracted some how.

Then you are!

D-Bo, good idea.  I think having a rabbit B on my helmet will give me superhuman strength an abilities beyond my wildest dreams.

Or, it will just be funny.

Either way - cool!
