No.  The Constitution doesn't give you any rights, it merely articulates that which is already yours and cannot be taken.  Simple enough.

Thats also got a /2007/november/ in the URL...

and the US Supreme Court articulated that the right to bear arms applies to individuals not merely to the states right to maintian a national guard.

This issue is resolved.  Now its time for the real work to happen at the state level...

10 years from now I see guns back in the hands of law abiding citizens in every state... as it should be.

we can only hope.  With our current president I fear that every anti-firearm related law will be passed.  If they are unable ban our firearms, they sure as hell can start to tax or remove our ability to purchase cheap ammunition.

Not likely.  I'm guessing that California will be among the last of states to be forced into Constitutional compliance.

Although the CA AG realized that the gay marriage ban violates the State and Federal Constitution and he said he cannot supoprt the ban.  Who knows....

Just because the ban was lifted in DC does NOT mean they wont try and outlaw semi-auto pistols like they did in DC.  DC, as far as I know, is a revolver ONLY area.

http://www.wusa9.com/news/local/story.a ... &catid=158

Maybe Doc has better information on this subject.

A bullet to the chest is the same if it comes from a revolver or a semi-auto, but we should NOT be forced to own ONLY revolvers.  I am a firm Libertarian and believe that everything not covered by the Constitution is to be left up to the States, but that will never happen.

No I just have a better education on the Constitution and a deeper understanding of the judicial processes of Constitutional interpretation and enforcement than do most people. I also believe in the system that was designed to protect the rights of the people.  Sure, its a slow process.  How many years did it take for women and colored people to be able to vote?  Everyone knew it was wrong to deny the rights and it still took how many years for Brown v Board of Education to come to the surface?  I don't believe in conspiracy theories and I refuse to accept the government is "out to get us" or to "take away our guns" because there are just too many stupid people in the world and in government for that to be true.

The Constitution was designed to prevent the majority of people from deciding the rights of the minority.  This country is NOT a democracy its a Constitutional Republic.

As you gain some life experience you will begin to see things from a bigger picture.

I agree with Doc and would like to add that "IF" that day does ever come that they want to "TRY" and take them from us, I hope that everyone of you and all your neighbors and family members STAND UP and MAN UP and DO NOT GIVE IN!!!! The ONLY way to give in is to give them EACH round individually thru the barrel!!! YOU take control and YOU take responsibility and YOU take back this country! It will be a sad sad day if it ever comes to that, our forefathers did it years ago during the Revolution and unfortunately, we "again" are in dark days... For those of you that want more information look up a radio show called, "The Intelligence Report" on Live365.com or you can listen to archived shows at "theintelligencereport.tk" for free, scroll down a ways and when you see current dates on the left, click on a date and listen to the show... I listen to the 5,6,&8pm shows... I think you will find it very informative.      Salvo

While that may be true, and as much as I would like to spit in the collectors face and tell him to "take my gun from my dead hands", I wouldn't. I would arguee it with him and eventually end up giving him my guns, I agree with doc, the government isn't out to get us, sure there are some corrupt people in washington, yeah they can be influenced by lobyists and might do stupid things here and there, but they really are trying to do whats best for the country.

That being said there is nothing more dangerous that good intent, and if you dont beleive that do a bit of reasearch on Hong Kong and see what can happen when the goverment just lets shitt happen.

That is a serious issue. Wasn't 'He' trying to pass a 500% tax on all ammunition, or something along those lines?
