MP-5 rigs.....
« on: March 20, 2012, 08:19:24 PM »
Sup guys. Bored and curious here....

I run an mp5 and have 5 mid caps. I'm thinking about buying 5 more, as 5 mags don't last me a 2.5hr game. I have a tri-mag pouch on my vest and store the other two in a drop leg pouch. If I get 5 more I'd be able to fit them on the drop leg pouch....

But I'm curious what other mp5 guys are using. How many mags? How do you have the pouches set up?

It seems like there are a lot more neat vests/rigs with m4/ak pouches built in but not too much for the mp5 guys like me...  :(

Feel free to post pics and whatnot!  ;D

Just carry as much ammo as you think is necessary. MP-5 mags fit great in double m4 closed tops. This way, if you get a new gun or want to run a different one, you don't have to adjust your rig much to accommodate different mag shapes.

Nice looking kit BTW :)

Yeah for my mp5 i use m4 pouches/ walkie talkie pouches. An m4 pouch holds 3 for the ones i have and the walkie talkie pouches matter on the size but mine is large ithink and it holds 3
My gear collection costs more than my car...

Lol thanks for the responses guys.
Yeah I'm definitely buying 5 more mags when I get around to ordering off Evike......

And the drop leg pouch is a triple double m4 pouch and two mags fit pretty solidly in each pouch.
Also I've upgraded to a drop leg holster since that picture and my mp5 finally has optics. Lol.

Is the triple mp5 mag pouch pretty much the only mp5 specific mag pouch? I don't think I've ever seen an open-top mp5 pouch.

I used to run an MP5, had a great set up. Get one of those double MOLLE mag pouches that are designed to hold 2-3 M4 mags per pouch...Held 8 MP5 midcaps for me perfectly. Nice and snug so there was no wobble, but I was able to pull them out quickly when I needed to reload. Combine that with a mag dump pouch to quickly dump your old mags, and you have quite the speedy and lightweight set up. I tried out one of those triple SMG pouches initially, but they take up too much space and only hold 3 mags, and I found they were way too tight; getting my mags out was a pain to say the least. I'd also advise you to get rid of any sort of drop leg holster or pouch. I tried out the drop leg thing for awhile, and although it looked pretty cool, whenever I ran the dang thing came loose and wobbled all over the place, severely limiting my mobility. Just my past experience though. Happy airsofting!

No honestly I agree with you on both counts. Haha. I bought the drop leg pouch for 3 bucks...... I like my drop leg holster though. I have it nice and tight and it's been working for me.

Haha I guess for $3 you really can't go wrong. What kind of pistol do you carry in your drop leg?

I've got an MP5k-PDW, and because of the short barrel and diminished range, I tend to not shoot often except in CQB, which really helps to conserve ammo. I've got three midcaps in a triple SMG mag pouch, a low-cap in a pistol mag pouch, and two hi-caps clamped together on the gun. I rarely have to use a mid-cap.

And about 15 more in parts lol

Next goal is the Systema TW5!

Mp5's are by far the best upgrade platforms if you get your hands on the right ones.

The group as of a year or so ago:

Some of the new guys:

I use any type of clip shut 3 mag pouch for my mag storage, I came across a few a couple of years ago, and they have been a cornerstone for me ever since.

The mag integrated vest put out by OE Tech is also quite nice for Mp5 style mags, but if you flip it upside down, its goodbye mags.

Come ride the HK side.....

Something must be wrong with your Mp5k, because they normally shoot as far as any AK (the hop up unit is almost identical and the gearbox is a V3). Barrel length shouldn't affect anything (ok, so it *could* affect accuracy, but its so negligible I've never noticed it) unless you're running a spring gun or a gas gun where cylinder to barrel ratios work differently. I have a CYMA Mp5k that out ranges and is more accurate than my CA M14, ICS L85, ICS M4, and performs on par in range with better groupings than my CA SR25. My cousin's Galaxy Mp5k also has stellar accuracy and range. I have found that Mp5ks tend to need the hop nub and/or hop up rubber replaced with softer version like a systema and new nub cut from 16 gauge silicon wire insulation.

I HATE most Mp5's because they are such a pain to work on and typically have garbage for internals. That said, the new ICS Mp5 split gearbox design and the CYMA Mp5k (I believe ECHO1 is using this as their rebrand, no idea honestly) are amazing and a pleasure to work on. Also now that they have lipo's I'm surprised everyone isn't running more compact AEGs lately.

As for magazines, I am going to be running with 20 midcaps in triple M4 pouches that cover my whole plate carrier along with a drop bag although I may start carrying a second one as it gets pretty full. Typically I run with 15 m4 midcaps, however the Mp5 ones hold less so I'm sure I'll need more.

It's a stock Galaxy MP5 (with Deans), and the barrel is, like, four inches long. It chrono's at 240fps with .25's. Putting a tracer unit actually gives it an additional 40fps. It's accurate enough, it just has shit for range. I bought it as a CQB gun though, so it does just fine for what I wanted.

The galaxy mp5k is notorious for having hop problems, the lever to adjust it slips every time you shoot it. New bucking, scs nub, and teflon the whole thing....and you have a champ. My CA mp5k is hitting right around 250'

xXmusicimpactXx I have a Hi-Capa. I have two mags for it which I keep in the pouch on my vest. If I keep the mag in the pistol the mag release is pressed and the mag falls out. I've almost lost my mag way too many times.....

Lol Exarach you must like mp5s or something. Just a hunch.... haha  ;D

I really love my CYMA 041. I haven't touched anything on the gearbox besides downgrading the spring to an m110, and with my m4 length tightbore it shoots 375 with 0.25g's. I have a 7.4v 5000mAh lipo and everything is wired to deans.... I'm buying an 11.1v soon. I also am using a shark hopup and tried the fishbone nub but it didn't fit in my hopup. Too wide.... The only think I don't like about the CYMA mp5 is the hopup.

It's super easy to work on though. One pin and the stock comes off. One more and the gearbox/lower receiver slides out of the upper. Haven't actually adjusted the hopup perfectly or adjusted the red dot yet.... It's hard being an airsofter living in a college dorm lol
(I store my gear at my friend's house btw)

Why go with the mid caps?

I found on amazon some hi caps for 5 a piece....plus shipping.

http://www.amazon.com/Airsoft-Magazine-Galaxy-Electric-Guns/dp/B001MP2M8U/ref=sr_1_62?ie=UTF8&m=A1C3AEKQFQ823R&s=sporting-goods&qid=1332406668&sr=1-62

Check it.

Also does anyone have a spare buttplate for the mp5 I have a CA mp5 a5 hard stock. just need a buttplate.

Gearbox said they have one for $6 used. Anyone got anything to compare? And closer to 35th and northern?
