Confused about the HFC g17... Help me???
« on: June 05, 2010, 09:19:54 AM »
Well I'm not new to airsofting and I know how airsoft gas guns work and stuff but my friend might sell me his HFC g17 (he's not to into airsoft anymore and doesnt have gas for it. But when I looked at the clip I was like "WTF where does the gas or co2 go???" does anyone know what it uses and where to put it and any other helpful things about this gun?

Most gas for airsoft pistols are held in the magazine.

If I'm not mistaken... I'd say under the bottom plate of the magazine <face palm>. the KWA Glocks are the same way. Slide the bottom of the mag off about half way to reveal the gas intake nozzle. I think those are GBB's, so of course the gas would be held in the magazine... at least, for me, it's common sense to check there :D

also, quick question, why do people refer to the magazines as clips? I've never understood the term  :-k

Well I have taken the bottom face plate off the magazine but the only open spot is where the spring is for the BB loader. It quite confuses me...

And about the clips thing idk I said it on accident. Most people who don't know what they are talking about say clips rather than the proper terminology of magazines.

No worries, just wondering how the term started haha.

As for the mag, I'm a bit baffled there... No fill valve in the bottom... Have you tried to see if there is anything that could be removable to locate a gas intake valve? this one is confusing. maybe pictures of your mag would help. make sure the bottom plate is off too :P

the proper usage of clip would be used when you are referring to the loading of a magazine, or a cylinder!

google "en-bloc clip" ;) that is a proper example

As a reference...Clips (usually 8 rounds) were normally used for rifles like the M1 Garand.

Here is a visual representation of the difference between a clip and a magazine:
