New Gun Opinions
« on: June 17, 2008, 03:48:11 AM »
I recently bought an Echo 1 AK-47 RIS just to try out Airsoft, and after about a month of playing i decided that i was going to get serious.
So my gun shoots about 300fps and i was planing on getting a new one.
I need a gun that is reliable, customizable, good ROF, and to shoots no more than 400fps, but dont want it to cost a fortune :)
Any opinions?

Rumors are that Gas Blowback Rifles come out  Mid-July http://youtube.com/watch?v=EIV_ZBJBzMg

Thanks in advance :)

Why not upgrade what you already own? Add an M110 spring and a tightbore barrel, plus any other accessories that you want to throw on there and you'll be set.

He might not be spending his own money.
He didn't indicate his age so he could be 15 years old and doesn't care how his fathers money is spent.
I had to get a job for any of my own spending money  :D
However, nil8r is right.
The echo1 AK RIS is probably the best Echo1 has to offer. Probably the only one worth taking care of in my opinion.
Already comes with a full metal body, metal gears, and all around better internals.
All you need to do is get a tightbore, new spring, a midcap, and a new handguard set and you've got yourself a respectable AK.

Sorry for not indicating my age, I'm 18.
I bought the Ak with my own money as well :)

I was thinking about the Upgrading, but i wasnt sure if it was going to be worth it.

Do you guys have an idea on how much the upgrade will cost?

When you say 30ish, do you mean 300mmish? or?

and for the spring is, PDI 110 good?

Is the only way to find out my fps with a Chronograph?

Google "The Poor Mans Chronograph"
You use a coke can, and judging by the penetration gives you the FPS of your gun.
I forgot the exact stats, but I think it's like ...
1 side = 300 FPS
both sides = 350 FPS
Bottom of can = 400 FPS
Top and Bottom = 475 FPS

Haha that is pretty awesome, im gonna give it a try tomorrow.

So how would i know if im right under 400Fps if i was going to get a new spring and Tightbore without having to test it? I dont want to buy the parts, install them, just to find out its over 400fps and not being able to play, then having to buy another weaker spring and tightbore.

Unfortunately, none that I know of.
But you could always get the parts, see if they are to your standards, and if not, oh well. You have cool new parts to make your AEG into a sniper.
If it is under 400, then yay.

A 110 spring might put you close.

A 100 spring would 100% put you under.

Talking cash, a tight bore will be around the 35 dollars.

Depending on motor, heavier springs will slow down a bit, not talking much though for 100 or 110 springs though.

Just the spring or the tightbore too?

So the motor will increase my ROF?

The motor will rotate slower because the spring is stronger, thus decreasing your ROF but increasing FPS (if you continue using the same weight of bb).
