I just saw it.  It was cool.
Now I know what Crye Body Armor was really designed for.

This movie was the biggest pile of shit I think I've ever seen. This two and a half hour train wreck has about as much to do with Transformers as Bea Arthur does to sexy. Soundwave (at least I think that's who it was. It could be Frenzy, either way) was fucking gay, Optimus Prime was a Big Pussy and Ironhide sucked as a weapons specialist. Horrible robot designs, inconsistent scaling issues with the robots, transformations that took too long and battle scenes that looked like something out of a "You Got Served" dance routine, helped to further sink this piece of colon ejecta. In a previous thread I stated that the only thing in this movie worth seeing was Megan Fox. I was wrong, there's also a hot Australian chick in the movie too. I'm so glad I didn't pay anything to see it.

High expectation perhaps?
I thought the movie was cool.  For a storyline about "robots in disguise" I felt it was made as realistic as it could be.

just the whole idea in general of taking a childrens cartoon and toughening it up (which they did so-so) is sort of cheesy.

The fx were good though

Saw it at Grossmont, theatre 10.

First off there was a teaser trailer for what looked like a kick ass movie in the beginning, made by bad robot productions.  was it Godzilla?  nah, was it Jesus as someone in the theatre yelled...no freaking cool, but it looked really freakin cool!!! (runs off to find out what it was)

Looked it up and this is what i found:

Quote
We saw a screening of Transformers last night (which was awesome by the way, full review coming next week), but we weren’t lucky enough to see what people are now referring to as the trailer to JJ Abrams Top Secret Movie titled Cloverfield. Our friends at FirstShowing were lucky enough to be at a screening that showed the trailer. Everyone who has seen it so far are calling it one of the coolest trailers ever. And the best part, it’s for a movie no one really even knew existed. The trailer apparently ends without even a title, just “Produced by J.J. Abramsâ€￾ and the release date “1.18.08″. You can read the trailer description over at FS, but everyone is saying not to. People are saying this is a trailer you really need to experience yourself.

So what is Cloverfield? According to AICN, it’s a giant monster movie (refferred internally as “The Parasiteâ€￾) which is shot using home video cameras from the point of view of real people who are experiencing the attack on New York City.

And let me tell you, this movie was NOT what i expected at all.  I ex[expected some "BAYhem" but didn't get it.  which is a good thing,.  no uber slow motion fight/bullet stuff that is usually overdone in his films, or flat dialogue.  What you will see is a lot of humor and funny moments that had the whole theatre laughing there transforming asses off, mixed with possibly the best special effects in a movie, ever (even better than SW:ROTS).  You all remember watching Jurassic park for the first time, and seeing the T-Rex attack, and how it sucked you into the movie and the characters?  well imagine that, but all over this movie.

The human characters are good, the robot characters are better (believe it or not).  some (a not-so-well-thought-out-tearful-moment, which backfires) scenes were just a bit sub-par story wise, but those are 1% of the movie.

the action starts at about 3 minutes in and doesn't stop for the whole damn movie (OK i lied, there are a few expositions moments or plot building scenes that are necessary, but worth it).

hopefully, as the last few shots suggest, I will be expecting even better things down the road.

So Bay has once again made the blockbuster movie of the summer, clearly outweighing Spidey, Jack Sparrow, Ben Grimm and most likely Harry Potter as well. Not your typical Bay movie, who even pokes fun at himself in the script, but it's possibly the best movie he's made, most likely because Spielberg reined him in a bit, or possibly because he has enough experience as a filmmaker now to make a kick ass, huge freaking robots are coming movie.

DONT MISS THIS ONE, YOU'LL REGRET IT!

***saw it again today.  still holds its humor and fun factor***

note** I've known for some time that most of the actors have signed on for at least 3 more

Unfortunately, no. I had very low expectations of the movie and it was worse than I thought it would be. I kept finding faults (well actually finding isn't the right word because they were blatantly obvious) with the movie's own logic. I won't say what they are in this post because I don't want to ruin or spoil scenes for anyone who hasn't seen it yet. But if you're like me you'll probably spot em' pretty quick. It's funny though, I posted disparaging remarks about the movie on the spawn.com board and whoa nelly! Some little fanboy nerd really laid into me. I don't know if my ego can ever recover from the sting of his razor sharp wit.

As far as the "robots in disguise" aspect, I think Jazz was the only one to pull it off. Prime has a gay flame paint job that stands out like a sore thumb. Bumblebee is a car that's not even out yet. Ironhide isn't a very common vehicle either, and I couldn't quite tell what Ratchet's vehicle mode was.

I don't know much about the world of Transformer, I never saw the original or spawn off cartoons, nor read the comic books. But I was thoroughly enjoyed by this entire movie. Awesome battle scenes. Hilarious dialog. This movie starts and just doesn't let up for the entire 2+ hours.

I just saw it last night. I thought it was pretty cool, I wouldn't say it was the best summer movie but if you want to go kick back and enjoy yourself then it works. =)

I went in there expecting to hate it but that movie was off the hook! That made me want to buy a bunch of multicam crap! Camaros, Gunships, Robots... I really don't know what else a movie needs.
