Hello Troops,
I was browsing the posts and thought I would pass on some info based on my expereinces in major airsoft games.(LC1,LC2,LC3,HB1 and HB2 in a few weeks).
Physical conditioning and working on your skill sets will get you farther then gear will everytime.
You might be the best shot in the world but if you run out of steam on me you are out of the fight just as much as a casualty is.
Small unit tactics are the key. If all you can do is train with your Ranger buddy on two man tactics you will be miles ahead of the guys that are fighting as individuals.
You give me a single squad of my LC3 AZ vets and we do a half day train up and I can guarantee that we could walk all over a whole platoon of individuals.
Hector and Christian dominated the battlefield everywhere they went and they did it with hardly any trigger time.
They did it with team work, physical conditioning and dicipline.
As far as gear goes. Heavy on ammo. Always carry spare bulk ammo for yourself, your teammates and the SAW gunners.
BATTERIES! If you are using minis of any sort you need at least 3 fully charged for every op.
Have a sidearm for when not if your AEG goes down.
Have a spare AEG at base camp even if it is stock.
Also have enough water for the op your are on AND the next one. This is for when NOT if Murphy bites us in the ass.
Always have a food source of some sort. I use GU and power gels myself. The caffinated one give you a double boost. Once again protect yourself againist Murphy's teeth.
Any equipment that does not directly facilitate combat...leave it at camp.
make your leaders carry all that extra crap
Base camp.
Have gear and clothes for cold weather. Think layers.
Get yourself off the ground if you can. It is much warmer and easier on your body when you are over 30 and have a bunch of hard miles on you.
Food.
Think simple. Prepared meals are the best. I like a feast around the campfire with my bros as much as the next guy(or gal Erin
)but you are going to be to tired. You ass if going to be dragging. Ask your local LC vets.
New people get with your vets, they are a wealth of knowledge. Use your leadership whenever you can. That is what they are there for.
...and remember this is not your chance to be a DELTA/SEAL/FORCE/RANGER for a weekend.
You will be operating as a light infantry company. Unless you're assigned a leadership position you are a PFC.
Want to move up the foodchain? Show me what you got and be prepare to step up when needed.
