Shouldn't over 5 years be some kind of record or something like that?

I have been running a CA SCAR on a 11.1v lipo for over a year.  The only change to the internals was a better spring.  What makes the difference is the discharge rate of the battery.  At LC this year I bought two 7.4 lips, one was 15 C discharge and the second was 20 C.  One was 1600mAh and the other was 1800mAh Both worked well in the SCAR.  The 15 C slowed down (rof) to an average of a 9.6 NiCad/NiMH. The 20 C was faster than the 15 C, but still slower (rof) than the 11.1 i had been using.  You still obtain the faster reaction to the trigger just like with the 11.1v lipo, but slow down the rate of fire.  I would like to be able to tell you these lasted all day, but I dont know since Alpha (tan) never showed up to a fight.

I would not go any larger than a 20c discharge rate.  Also the mAh does not need to be any higher than the 1600 to 1800 I have been trying.  From what I have read as well as experienced myself the lipo does not discharge energy the same way as a Nicad or NiMH.  I seam to get about the same amount of time from these as I do my 3300 mAh and 3600 mAh NiMH.

so using a 7,4v 20v lipo is like a step between the 11.1 15c?

How very, very interesting.  Just out of curisioty, do you remember what the RoF was?

The more I read and talk to people about lipo's the more I think they are the answer, especially when you can have 3000mah batts that are almost the same size as a 9.6vNiMH.

Nope, I had no way to quantify that.  I was just giving my impression based on the way it sounded as well as the stream of BB's.

As far as discharging them to far, there are several different options.  This is just one of them:  (only cost $2.00)

"HXT Battery Monitor for 3S lipo.

This device plugs into the balance port on your battery.
Should any one of your cells fall below 3.3v the light will change from Green to Red, indicating an unbalanced pack and that your battery should not be discharged further.

Discharging your pack to its normal level when you have an unbalanced pack will cause one cells capacity/voltage to drop too low, resulting in a faulty cell which will very quickly reduce the packs performance.

A properly balanced pack can last 600 cycles or more. However, unbalanced packs rarely make it past 100 cycles before at least 1 cell becomes faulty.
We strongly urge all customers to balance and discharge packs properly.

With this device, you will know immedietly when your pack is unbalanced and should not be discharged further or balanced."

I am looking at buying a Midland FRS/GMRS radio.  Will this radio work, and does anybody have experience with Midland?

I have tried Midland and did not care for them.  I then went to Motorola and liked the frs/gmrs a lot better.  For when you are starting to get your gear together and need to spread the money around a little I would go with Motorola.  Look for ones that do not have a "page" button or see if the "page" button can be deactivated.  There is nothing worse than trying to be stealthy and then have someone else hit a "page" button and you have that loud tone go off in your ear.

When you go to look for an ear piece and mic, and you will at some point, I have found a lot more options for the Motorola.

The best radio out there is a lot more expensive, but in my opinion is well worth the money:  ICOM F4-S4.  These can be programed with FRS/GMRS Freq's.

I read that one.  I did not know if different manufacturers program their radios with different codes.

All FRS are the same and all GMRS are the same.  Most radios today have both set of Frequencies and will work with each.  At games we always use FRS channels because most people have FRS or the FRS / GMRS Combo.

Hey Josh,

Glad her you are feeling better and made it home safe.  Over all we lost quite a few people on Sat from Heat.  It was pretty hot and then to top it off with all the gear.  Sun we lost a few more.

It makes it easy to lead when the guys around you are that good.  The guys I play with are what make this game a good one.  Thanks for being on my squad and I hope to "fight" along side of you again.

It works for me with Firefox.  Not a bad time waster.  Good find.
