i know a guys who uses one, when i play against him.  I toss a Thunder B right behind him, and if he runs i shoot him.  I wouldnt care if a whole team used one.  I have never seen any rules about using roit shields.   They always make the player tired, and i get to laugh.

I played both with and against someone using one at Fort Adobe. Hated it, even when he was on my team.

If you make it the weight of a real IIIA or IV class ballistic-rated shield (that can stop at least a .308), and the same size, and the same size of window/lack thereof...

then by all means, use it.

If you're going to layer up some cardboard or make it out of a sheet of plexiglass, then I would consider it part of your body for hit counts.

Like I said, if it's full-weight, then yes, I have always said that I would allow them to be used in-game.

They count as cover. Like if you were behind a rock or wall.

If you make it out of cardboard, .BBs will just punch on through it.

Tactically, pleh.

Every time one has been on the field it has caused problems. But this goes for introducing any sort of armor, body, helmet. The only time armor is appropriate is for vehicles.

I've only seen someone use a riot shield for airsoft once at Fort Adobe. I know that Evike.com sells them. I think it's a waste of money.

Doesn't have to be a real one in my opinion. Just the weight and dimensions of a real one. Take that thing, spray paint over most of it, and hook about 40lbs of weight (not gear... useless stuff like lead pipe or sand-filled jugs) to it, and that's great!
