Machine gun
« on: September 29, 2011, 07:10:06 PM »
I don't know if showing how to make a gun is allowed. I didn't see anything in the rules.

Anyway...........I got this link off another forum. I made this thing and it is very cool. Sounds like a Mini gun.

uses lots of air but still cool. I had to modify the plans a little because this one uses steel BBs. Once I'm finished with the outside of the gun I'll post some pics and video. If I don't get banned first ;D

Sorry if it's a re-post.

Reminds me of a super soaker.

Novel, but I think if you wanted an C02 powered machine gun, you should probably get in on some classic airsoft guns.

Vortex Block guns are commonly used to make airsoft "flamethrowers".  You can find airsoft specific info on them on most major airsoft forums.

Bummer... thought I'd stumbled onto something new. Should have known better.  :o

I can see why they call it a "Flamethrower" While it shoots very fast, they don't shoot very far.

This is probably one of the best executed ones I've seen.

Ok.....I finished my .50 cal machine gun. It's not the best replica out there but it sure is fun.

Here's a video of it in action..........

That looks pretty good. Have you check how many fps it's shooting at? Or even how many rounds per second?

Thanks .........

No I have not checked the FPS yet. The air regulator is adjustable so I should be able to get it with in acceptable limits.

As far as I can tell it shoots about 300 rds a minute. But thats just what other builders have said their guns shoot but it does look to shoot about 5 rds a second. For that video we used almost 5000 rounds. Thank goodness they were  Walmart cheap-os !!

I'm real interested in how fast that thing fires.  Also, the post you posted shoots small .177 caliber metal bbs.  Does yours do the same?  Or is it made for airsoft.

I have a .50 cal replica too, only mine uses two traditional SAW gearboxes.  Seems to me as if this is much more reliable (no moving parts).

The one I made uses airsoft bb's. I had to modify their vortex block by making the exit hole bigger. But other than that it's almost the same thing.

I'm looking to get a chronograph so I can check this and the tank so I don't kill any one. That will tell me the ROF won't it ?

A agree no moving parts is nice but the air supply is kind of a pain and I wonder how long the vortex block will last but they are easy and cheap to build.

Most of them do, yes. When you get one, just make sure it has that ability.  If you bring it down to Mesa, I'm positive my friend will let you use his chrono to test it.
