WOOHOO......Just found 15-30 FPS
« on: May 20, 2005, 05:05:53 PM »
I just found my lost 15-30 FPS, Unknow to me but probably. know to a few of you, If you hopup does not spring back to the gearbox after every shot, the nozzle will not seat right in the hopup losing a small but noticeable 15-30 fps, I lost the little spring a few months back, I was blaming my low FPS  on a woreout m120, but after a few test I got my M4 right in the 356-360 range with .25s compare to the 315-330 I was getting
with no spring!!!! YA YA tell me you knew that before...... Well I am Sharing all my AEG info with all.....When I figure somthing out I will pass it on down! ;)

Glad to hear it!

I have heard of guys removing the spring on purpose to fix problems.

This illustrates that AEG maintenance is as much an art as it is a science.  As picky as these tiny mechanical devices can be, no wonder we all have so much trouble getting them to be consistent with one another.  One tiny part can change the whole operation of the weapon!

I actually had to remove that spring from my GR16 to get it to feed at all, and to get the FPS up to normal.  So it is varied depending on the weapon.

I had Harley work on my M4 and that appears to have been my issue as well.  I still had the spring, but a lot of friction was not allowing the hop up unit to move back down to the mech box.  After a lot of hard work on my part I had no idea what was wrong.  Harley was able to figure this out over night.  HE IS THE MAN.  I don’t have a chrono, so I won’t know what my FPS is until LC.  I am just hoping it is below the limit.

I know how you feel, Gix. Opened up my AK to install a new spring(it was shooting low) and realized that the piston head was loose(don't ask me how...becuase when i put it in the first time it was in there tight), and that was probably the result of  60 FPS. Installing a better spring still(this one is crappy anyway).

Of course you could always take the hop-up out of the picture completely and watch those BB's fly ALL OVER THE PLACE!  ;)

I was rolling bb's out of my gun the other day...Took down the gun, rebuilt the hop up which was done pretty shitty by someone else...Then lubed up and was fine...Only thing I noticed was that only about 1/10 times did the nozzle return to the frontal position 100%....Is that a problem or is it normal? What could cause this?
I have a feeling I am feeling the dreaded "suck back" because I have a hard f*cking spring.

I have a PDI 170...which is supposedly equal to a m120...but it gave me 430fps when I first got it...
