Minor Indicator
« on: February 23, 2004, 03:43:06 PM »
We need some sort of indicator as to who is a minor on these boards.  The "Forum Newbie" thing is great, but we need the same for minors.

It can simply be an "M" under the name, or include the name "minor" under the forum name.

We just need to separate the men from the boys here.

You used, "anyless" as one word. You failed to spell "complete". I'm not trying to be a jerk, but that's part of the reason azsarge is bringing this up.

People often come to these boards for technical advice on both guns and tactics. We also have a lot of current and former military personnel among us. Thinking that your experience compares to their's is foolish and worrisome at best.

1.) A better gun doesn't make a better player
2.) How many times have you been to Afghanistan or other combat zone? Thats right, none. You're 13, your tactics are what you see on the movies and TV.

Not to say you are all wrong (which you aren't), but he makes a valid, albeit poorly spelled, point.  Our ages are already clearly displayed.  Is it too much eye strain to read those little numbers? A giant M wouldn't change anything.  It would just label us.  Mark us as one for easy identification as a single stupid entity.  It would only increase the (sometimes) unnecessary segregation.  This label would mark us as one to ignore/taunt/lecture.  That's hardly fair to those among us who read above an elementary school level.  Not all minors act like minors.  I wonder if I'm gonna get **** for this post?

Oh yes you are! Here it comes!

Just kidding.

I actually didn't take a stance, just kinda pointing out some shit. I really think azsarge put this up to stir it up a bit. Irritate the non-voting, non-firearm buying airsofting Arizonans, you know.

Christian, you're funny.

A Scarlet M for minors would probably cause more problems then it would solve.  I think it would be nice if we could just block posts from certain people, or at least prevent their posts from bumping threads on the "View posts since last visit" page.

The Scarlet M would however be permissible under both the federal and Arizona Constitution, so long as all minors had the Scarlet M applied equally.

Not all discriminatory conduct is prohibited and since its (being over the age of 18  ) a de facto bona fide requirement to participate in a privately organized activity its lawful, legal, and a rather nice idea.

Maybe instead of the rank insignia we could put that big red M in its place for the kiddies...

Though I personally agree that a gun is minimal compared to a players skill, Have you ever taken a 50$ CYMA or BE-Tech and gone against Classic or TM??  :?: Didn't think so...... :D  No, seriously though, the gun does play a part in the victory of a player.
40$ AEG vs. Piper minigun.....

I have and I did fine......I still have the BE AUG to this day since I trust it over a stock CA. I did fine since I didn't camp with a high FPS gun but ran into various positions to get into range.

The system isn't broken so there is nothing to fix. They can't attend games just clog up the forums with useless posts. Unless you want to ban all minors from posting there is no reason to continue debating because nothing will come of it.

Is everybody but me missing the fact that this post was 4 years ago and nobody really cares anymore?

PS -- I would take a stock CA over a BE AUG any day.
