Hey sup all, i want to get a throat mic but iam having trouble finding one and iam not sure how good they are or wut is a good mic to get? any solutions or info just drop me a line later

I recently switched to a speaker mic, and love it!  Right now I have an Icom speaker mic, but it doesn't have a jack for an earbud.  I am replacing it with either a motorola or Pryme unit and an earbud.

The purpose of the earbud is so others cannot hear what's coming in on your radio.  That's the ONLY downside of speaker mics, but it's fixed with a 3 dollar bud from radio shack.  Then, all you do is squeeze the mic on your shoulder, and talk into it.

Keep this in mind with throat mics, unless you spend hundreds of dollars, it will not be any good.  It is very hard to understand a broadcast made by someone with a low-end throat mic.

Someone posted this farther up already.

http://www.clearercom.com/

I use a throat mic on my motorcycle and would recomend the Clearcom's.  I think I paid $120 with shipping and everything.  You can pick one up at Helmet Harbor locally.  They dont really advertise it but there is a model that works with the UHV/VHF radios, just tell them which brand you have.   I ordered mine directly from the company and it actually took the guys at Hemet Harbor calling for it to ever get shipped.
