Take care of your AEG!

I was looking through the forums and thought maybe we could all help out and make a tip list ( I know, it sounds strange ) about how to properly clean and maintain your AEG, along with some safety tips.

-Dissasemble and lube everything about every 15-20k rounds.

-Clean your inner barrel often to prevent build up and jamming bb's.

-Check to make sure nothing is stuck in your magwell every now and then(I got a bb stuck in there once and it kept my mags from sitting correctly all day)

-When opening the gearbox, don't "screw up" your shims. THis can be a pain in the ass to get right again once they are misalligned or missing.

-DONT DRY FIRE YOUR AEG!

-only exception to above- Fire in semi auto about 3-5 times to make sure the spring is decompressed after AEG use.

-Don't take the gearbox apart when you have no idea what you're doing (oops)

-Disconnect your battery when not in actual airsoft game

-Discharge your battery

-Lube the mags, to help easy loading

You don't need to do that though if you have the ICS M4 :)
Just use the button.

Its called a forward assist button, but thats one AEG out of many.

Is it realy nessisary to turn  the hop up off, while storing it ?  I never had a problem leaving it  sit!!!!

Yeah, because over time your hop rubber will stretch out and need to be replaced, not a huge cost or big deal, but its better if you just take care of your gun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've left mine turned "on" for almost 2 years with no noticable effect.  It is a Guarder bucking, not the stock TM one.

My G36's been on for about two years with no bad effect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just replaced the bucking when I got my new hop up.  The hopup before had been on for almost 9 months straight, and no noticeable wear or stretching at all.  I believe that was a guarder hopup as well.

Or the ICS? I really don't know how to turn on/off or pretty much anything to do with the hop up right now. Anyone wanna fill me in?
