Another Ex: http://www.airsoftarizona.com/forumbb/viewtopic.php?t=10038

There has been many others but, this was the one that sent me over the edge.
Point is that this board was a place to go for info and advice on anything Airsoft in this general area without weeding through seas of pointlessness.
We all get caught up in a little off topic chatter occasionally but, also keep it to a minimum.
If your 13, act adult and contribute positively to a thread, welcome. Otherwise lets keep the misc. to pm's and we all will keep our mouths shut.
This kind of behavior is exactly why I am not comfortable with most minors playing Airsoft and owning airsoft guns.

Oh yeah, and as far as correcting you when your screwing up, that is you and your parents problem. Think before you act. Take responsibility for your actions.

I think the problem is that they think that this forum and it's threads are their own instant message program.

"u going?"

"think so"

"me2"

"gtg"

"ttyl"

"k"

I say, "WTF"?

Well as it seems, there seems to have been a somewhat sudden influx of this freshly-turned-teenagers within the past few months.  I know that back when I was more active on this board, there weren't so many 13 year olds.  I just wonder how many of them are even younger than 13 and just marked that they were 13 so that they could use the board...

Was I really that bad on that topic? If you have problem with something I said or did pm me and tell me and I'll stop.

Fish is an example that teenagers are not necessarily bad.  He actually seems interested in learning about and participating in the sport, and has asked some intelligent questions.  Do we really need to ban people like him?

The problem isn't generally "minors in airsoft" ... the problem is public forums.... not enough censorship....  more exclusivity would fix it right up!

I guess more like pointed in the right direction. Just offer advice when they start weaving in several lanes of traffic. That is, if they are willing to be guided.

Maybe a PM from one of the very busy mods?  I mean something to the effect of a warning.  If they don't quit messing around....they will be banned, or whatever.

Well I know I'm done with junk/useless stuff. I think I did take it too far with some posts, so sorry for that. Hope this problem gets resolved.

It's nothing personal, and I want to make that clear.  You have to remember, whether you like it or not, aggree or disagree, this is an adult sport and you are dealing mostly with adults.

Maybe you should go read a book and relax on the posting.

I would also have to agree that not all minors are the problem.  There are some that do wish to learn and play at our level... but kids will be kids.  I remember being little and not being able to do certain things, too.  But if you showed enough responsibility and interest in what you want, then others will notice and teach you.

Fish, you're a good example of this.  Although you are young... you seem interested enough to want to learn about it.  Even though you have made pointless posts, the fact that you realized and apologized about it, gives me and possibly others the impression that you are willing to be a part of this.  You learn from your mistakes, and your mistakes are noticed more by others than yourself.  Heck, when i first joined the forum, i can remember making pointless posts.

Here are the main things that I moderate -

Personal insults
Extremely off topic posts
Chatter in the Classifieds
Non photo posts in photo only threads
Deleting double posts
Posts by bots
Business posts by non-community members

If a post isn't one of those things, I usually don't worry about it too much.  I'm not real sure if I see a lot of "whining" on the boards, but perhaps thats because everyone has different levels of tolerance for certain things.  I'm pretty laissez-faire on most things.

Matt has summed it up pretty well.  We mods are pretty easy handed with our god like moderating powers.

This is why we created the introduce yourself forums.  The whole forums are a way for the airsofting community in AZ together.  Game time is ultimately what we all want.  Its nice to get to know your fellow airsofter.  Use of the PM feature is a great way to converse one on one and ask the sometimes aweward question.

Just keep putting on games 18 or over. Let the kids find their own venue, like AA Mike's.

Delete all the BS threads, Give repeat offenders the Asshat, whatever their age.  Drive on.

I give them credit, they have stopped most of the pointless posts. Now they just need to learn there is an edit button and that people don't think your cool because you have >1000 posts.Of course there are a few exceptions ;)
