wow... so wise in all of your what, 19 years? No future why? Because you say so?
No future because of the social climate of this country.
http://www.ci.dallas.tx.us/cso/cc061406.shtmlWe can all agree that Dallas is a large, Republican center. We can also all agree that Republicans are the political party most likely to be fine with airsofting. While I don't agree with the bicameral system in place in America, that's for another post -- lest I digress, let's take a look at that link.
Now, delegates operate on the whim and at the service of their constituency, ideally. Sometimes that doesn't always happen.
CITIZEN SPEAKERS
In accordance with the City Council Rules of Procedure, the city council provided "open microphone" opportunities for the following individuals to comment on matters that were scheduled on the city council voting agenda or to present concerns or address issues that were not matters for consideration listed on the posted meeting agenda:
OPEN MICROPHONE – BEGINNING OF MEETING:
SPEAKER: Roy Williams, 5881 Crestview Blvd
REPRESENTING: Dallas County Green Party
SUBJECT: Public Safety/Discretionary Fund
SPEAKER: Peter Johnson, 4531 Solar Lane
REPRESENTING: Urban League
SUBJECT: Toy gun elimination incentive
SPEAKER: David L. Ferrell, 4531 Solar Lane
SUBJECT: Toy gun elimination
SPEAKER: Zakee Iddeen, 3107 S. Lancaster Rd.
REPRESENTING: R.O.T.O.R.
SUBJECT: The mass amount of toy guns in the black community
SPEAKER: Marsh McCartney, 1275 Bradford, Coppell, TX. REPRESENTING: North Texas Brady Campaign
SUBJECT: Danger of toy guns replicating real guns [/img]
That's all that was brought up during that phase of the open microphone session.
That's the public perception of airsoft, and it is inexorably, irrevocably, and inexplicably tied to it because of the appearance of the weapons. Sure, we've got like, "toy guns in the black community" sponsored by something called ROTOR (I'm sure it's liberal), and the Green Party, which requires no explanation. I'm sure you guys aren't pulling sick drivebys and letting everyone hear the rat-a-tat-tat of your fully automatic gat, but, some people are, and we're all tarred with the same brush.

Bogus-gun use rises in real crime in D.C.[/u], 11FEB06"] "Such guns look very real, the weight is real, they have removable clips," Metropolitan Police Chief Charles H. Ramsey said.
Now, we know from the DC Sniper situation that Charles Ramsey is an idiot. We know that clips are in fact detachable box magazines. That doesn't change the fact that he's the Chief of the Metropolitan Police and influential in local politics. This is the public perception of all but one twenty-fifth of one half of one percent, or whatever percentage of America plays airsoft.
You all should be familiar with the VCR Bill (Violent Crime Reduction) being proposed in England. It's heavy. More than I'm willing to summarize in this thread, but, there's a lot going on there. Given the strong alliance between England and the United States, it's really not so silly to conjecture that American policymakers would use the English VCR Bill as an example in getting a toy gun initiative passed here in America.
All the responsibility, regulation, unity, goodwill towards man and boy alike in the world on the face of this sport/hobby/mutual masturbation exercise won't keep other people from doing silly things with their Firepower/Airpower Beretta 92FS' they got from Walmart. It's unfortunate, but true. As we become a country tumbling head long into being ruled by fear and terror, anything scary will be on the chopping block. In an age where toothpaste can't be brought on airplanes and REAL FIREARMS (which have their own amendment FFS) are being constantly threatened every single day, I assure you that the shelf life of realistic firearm replicas is short.
Maybe the future of airsoft is with full face masks, brightly colored "projectors" in paintball parks. That won't be much of a future at all, to wit, that will not be airsoft.
We all suffer as a result of the actions of one.
P.S. -- I didn't catch your edit. I've made a number (probably 1,800) of terrible posts. People change. For instance, you used to be an alright guy that didn't make sure that everyone knew that : a) he was a badass lawyer, b) he was a badass soldier, and c) that he was a badass in general.
I liked that Doug Thorpe better, and I await his return.
P.P.S. -- In that post, there's three people. Me and two of my tightest friends. Ask them if they care about that. Also, that was perhaps, two years ago? 18 months? The social climate on this board insofar as minors has changed greatly. Also, yes, I am nineteen, that makes me older than 90% of the people who attend your events.
