WoW is taking my friend's soul
« on: September 03, 2006, 09:30:57 PM »
Over the couple of past weeks I haven't had much time to hang out with my friends because of work and airsoft. So this weekend I try to get a LAN party started, just like old times. But my one friend in particular has been totally consumed by WoW. He won't do anything with us, the only group activity he'll do is raiding with his guildies.

Just today one of his roommates told me about a conversation they had today.

WoW playing friend: *talks to roommate 1*Dude stop downloading, we're lagging
Roommate 1: k.
WoW playing friend: What were you downloading?
Roommate 1: A software package
WoW playing friend: H-games?
Roommate 1: not even
WoW playing friend: I have dating sims you know
Roommate 2: You downloaded dating sims?
WoW playing friend: Yeah, what?
Roommate 2: Sad. So how did you do in those?
WoW playing friend: I dunno, I don't have time to play them cause of WoW
Roommate 2: So you can't even have virtual girlfriends cause you play too much WoW.... sad man, sad

I dunno, I've played A LOT of H-Games.

Like, lots.

I like them.

I don't even know exactly what H-games are, but I have an idea of what they may be. These are the same friends who introduced me to 4chan, sick bastards...

- H-games=Hentai games
- Hentai="pervert"=cartoon sex=sh*t.

- That is sad that he can't even have digital girlfriends. And I don't understand the thrill of not levelling your character up at all and still fighting with make-believe monsters for months. It's like tightening the lids of jars scrolling by you on a never-ending conveyer belt.

Ok I just found out from some of his classmates that he hasn't been to class in weeks and on the rare days he does show up, he's usually asleep.

I find MMORPGs addicting, but now I've played most of them and they just don't interest me anymore. But I waisted a good portion of my life on them. Your friend will eventually get bored and quit, but it might be too late :(

your friend has been consumed by the darkside. the only way to save him is to...

1. Get a 2x4
2. hit him over the head which hopefully he will be playing wow and this will cut the link to the computer.
3. burn said computer and cut him off cold turkey.

When he is home, he never locks his door. I think I'll just wait till he has to take a dump, sneak in, and snatch his hard drive so he can't play.

Same here.

All my friends got addicted to it. I would freaken drive to Tempe to hang out and all they would do is play WoW. I played for about 3 seconds and called it "Fing retarded" and walked away. I prefer stuff that makes me think and MOVE. So far behind me are weights, guitar, airsoft, shinkendo katanas, a painting I never finished, Dirt Bike Gear, and 3 gaint gundam models. And now they are pissed I ditched their asses to live life. That game ruins everything.

Also Starcaft is better. Nothing is sweeter than making a guy with 150 units quit because you dropped 2 Nukes on his CC. You got tactically owned.

Everytime I think of WoW and what the designers wanted to do I think they probably wanted combat in the Warcraft world, like you see in those stunning CGI movies they do. Well the game world of WoW and the CGI of Warcraft are so different. The CGI Warcraft sequences actually look fun to play as well as watch. WoW is just a bunch of stat whores screaming at each other because some n00b ran behind the dragon in Onyxia and got whacked into the welp eggs. Its not a fantasy world when you can predict what's going to happen because everything is set in stone.

I dunno about that, WoW is pretty cool, I mean, it wouldn't have 7,000,000 subscribers and be making almost $1,000,000,000 in profit this year if it didn't have SOMETHING worthwhile.

The fishing is awfully fun.
