Jason Nelson. Other than Easter, my next day off is April 30th. We can go then if you don't have any shoots or sittings.

Okay...  so far it's John, Vell, Kyle (?) and myself + my wife.  Is anyone else coming?

So we're meeting at 7:45AM or so at Ben Avery?

We need to bring .223, .45 and 9mm, right?

Try to make it by 7:30, otherwise we may have to wait an hour to get a table.  Kyle isn't coming from what I've been told.  There's room for more if any of you guys want to tag along.

I can't make it but if anyone wants to wing by my place on the awy up you can take my Beretta.  It'd be a spare gun so someone doesn't have to wait.  I have to work all day or I don't get my Minimi!!!

Jason,

How'd you like that MP5? I had the chance to shoot one this past weekend, and it was a blast. There's a trick to controlling muzzle rise with them. Place the stock on your chest just inside your strongside nipple. Put your elbows way out, push the gun into your chest, and then fold your arms as far down as they will go. Now the hardest part: getting your head low enough to use the sights! The gentleman that took me this past weekend works for Phoenix SAU, so he showed me all the tricks.

I also put about 150 rounds through his AR15 (preban, tons of goodies). That was a hoot as well. I also got to shoot an assortment of other handguns. All in all, a very nice day. If you every get the chance, try that MP5 out at 100 yards. Use the smallest diopter, and have at it! I was blasting away at a big 44oz foam cup all day, and didn't even have to hold over to hit it.

The guy that taught me how to shoot an MP5 is a police instructor.  His method is way different than the one you just explained.  I don't think that style would work in a CQB environment, "elbows way out"  you need to be tight and compact.  Pull the gun in tight to your shoulder, elbows in tight, and "hunker down" to keep the muzzle under control baby!

Just re-read your post Basher, I understand what you were saying now.  Basically the same thing I did.  It's amazing how you can group a full mag into a 3 inch circle on full auto with one of these baby's when it's done right.

I've never needed any specific holds or positions to use an MP5 of any variant.  They are simply the finest shooting subguns on earth.  My wife even fired nearly perfectly with one without having had any prior experience.  I'm not bragging...it's the gun.  Glad you had a good time, Basher.  They are awesome guns to shoot and you can engage at any small arms distance with total confidence.

Harley,

Sorry I got you confused. [:D] The main difference between your style and mine is that the butt of the stock is on your chest. It worked rather well. Our target was out at about 25-30 yards, so groups weren't all too great, but I did hit the guy, so. . . However, that's the first time my peck's ever gotten sore from shooting. After putting about 200+ rounds through the thing, you get a pinch tender. [:P] I'd love to go back out, though. I missed getting to use an AUG by this much II (space between I's).

Since I'm in photo, I get to develop my own film, so now I have 25 pictures of pure full-auto bliss. The best pictures are those of his 9 year old son emptying a mag through the MP5. The thing is almost as big as he is!

When ever I get melencoly, I pull out my copy of "Firestorm in the Desert" throw it in the VCR and it puts a smile on my face.  A must have for any full-auto enthusist!
