Incase you can't make it out:
The patch with the words on it says "Doing the work of".

Doesn't do a whole lot for his overall camo though.  :D

Kinda funny but wow, if that was one of my guys I would slam his ass. He is not not being paid for his opinion. I know about frustration but there is a time and place and that aint it.

I had never seen it before... besides it's only the people who appreciate the funny picture that count.

But that's all beside the point... we all need to remember that both the Army and Navy (AF too) are pansy branches of the military... Marine Corps wears the daddy pants.

Hey, I'm enlisted... they just won't let me leave 'till August, so I'm stuck here chillin'  [smilie=armata_pdt_25.gif] .  It's ok though... I'll have plenty of time to PT during the summer (it'll help me get better prepared).

DEP isn't the "shit". Its cool...but not half as fun as basic. If you want to do DEP while getting paid, Army Guard is the way to go. I make 160(after taxes and stuff like that) as a PFC. I will be doing this all the way to basic training, then when I come back, after 1 year of being elisted as national guard i can transfer active(or wait till my 3 by 5 contract is done with). Got a friend doing USMC DEP, sounds fun, but not half as "fun" as being a guard DEP.

Yeah, just to clearify, USMC doesn't pay out to you if you are DEP (not even reserve (I believe)), but that's not why you join the Marines anyways.

The other day some lady was telling me that the USMC was looking for people with good 'puter skills (and I'm pretty handy with 'puters), and I was like, "Lady, I didn't join the Marine Corps to type."

You are right about the not being payed thing. Army Guard and Air Guard are the only ones that do that.

People tell me the same things about the army. They ask why I'm an infantryman....same thing for me(them other lazy non-combat bastids ;) ).

DEP is the s***

DEP isn't anything. It's just a way for your recruiters to keep an eye on you before you ship. Pool functions are a joke. Seriously guys...

What kinda pool functions did you have? We have run your butt off then do calesthetics pool functions. I'll admit, we certianly slack off when it comes to our military bearing, but we get a good work out.

Well, I guess we did work out pretty well, but doing PT with your recruiter once a month doesn't quite qualify "DEP is the s***" in my mind.  :)

Most of my DEP time was spent preparing letters for my recruiters to mail out and playing PS2 in their offices.

You only had to PT once a month!? How easy would that be? We PT weekly plus 1 Saturday a month. We are also "encouraged"(USMC encouragement) to work out on our own.

I know that the pool functions in USMC vary widely, depending on recruiter availability and geographical location. I know that some of the really rural guys hardly have to go to the recruiting office at all after they DEP.

Our recruiting station is one of the largest in AZ, they pretty much handle west Phoenix and lots of people from Glendale and other northwestern portions of the valley. The recruiters at our station have their stuff together pretty well, not to mention they almost always have a few people on RA... so there's always someone to encourage you on those long runs.  [smilie=armata_pdt_35.gif]
