Greed means I wont be playing much!
« on: September 02, 2005, 07:37:36 PM »
I have to say that watching the price of gasoline go from $269 a gallon to $3.19 in just 2 days means that I will NOT be able to afford to play much until the greddy bastards in control of the oil decide to lighten up.
The price gouging is supposed to be because of the hurricane-BULL!!!
It is greed-pure and simple, and I refuse to pay these prices.

So have fun, maybe once some sort of sanity takes hold, and thing get back to normal again, but then again, maybe nothing will ever be normal any longer????

its greed on the part of the gas companies.

I pass by 3 notible gas stations on my way to school
these were the prices (for unleaded)

1. arco - 2.97
2. Circle K - 3.09
3. Shell - 3.19

It is absolutely greed.  My dad bought premium unleaded today for 2.89 so I know that there is just a little bit of price gouging going on.

fortunately venesuela and the middle east agreed to up the output until the factories that are down go back up.  that should help a little,  but I wouldnt doubt if gas got to $4 a gallon before we see its effects.

...f*ck the gas increase....gas used to be 2.20 or so, now it's 3.00...that's an .80/gallon increase...it takes me about 11 gallons of gas to go to Prescott and back, or Avra Valley and back...that's like, 9 dollars more. I'm still eatin'. Games only happen once, I'm not going to let 9 bucks ruin it for me. The difference is even less for people with passenger cars. People seem to think that if gas goes up a dollar, it's the end of the world and they have to make HUGE lifestyle changes. Flash, IIRC, you ride with Floyd anyway.

this is why i am carpooling like a crazy man!

i figure if i can split a 20 dollar trip between 4 people, i'm doing well.  5 bucks in gas for a 60 mile trip/ride is pretty damn good if you ask me.

I agree with flash. I have family obligations that take priority over any airsoft game. Those of us that live paycheck to paycheck and have families to support are greatly affected by the gas price increases. There are games every weekend so missing a few until things settle down is'nt the end of the world.

I understand totally where you are coming from Scott, but the thing is, I don't see things settling down any time soon.

That sounds ridiculously high---but I bet its a fact co0ming from you, and that makes me sick!'
As I said, here, the price went from $269 to $319 in 2 days.................
I realize I pay $269 for a gallon of milk, but I dont buy milk 20 gallons at a time, nor do I buy20 gallons several times a month.

This gas gouging (BTW-there are NO laws in Arizona that control the price of gas-so in theory they could start charging $8.00 a gallon tomorrow if they wanted) , this high gas price means EVERYTHING is going to cost more--so it isnt JUST the high rip off gas prices.

If the price of gas dictates whether or not you make it to a local event (I understand driving from Phoenix to Tucson and vice versa) then you should either

1) Re-think playing airsoft
2) Think more about carpooling

Hindquarters, I think I have already rethunk playing airsoft, and I do not dig carpooling--too much hassle.

I shall continue to play, I am just going to pick and chose closer games until the price of gas comes back to something reasonable.

I could hop in the car tommorrow and go play in LA if I wanted, but I cant justify the price of gas to do it, that DOES NOT MEAN I cant afford it.

OK, so I think the gas price increases are bullsh*t, and I don't want to put anymore money in the pockets of oil execs than I have to.

But, who am I really hurting if I put my life on hold (that includes recreation) because of a small increase in price?

I'm not rich, nor is my income as a soldier very high, but I'll be damned if I'm going to stop doing the things I enjoy because of an increased cost of gasoline.

Ya'll do what you see fit, but I'm going to carpool to work when possible, and continue to drive as much as I want for everything else.
