Even the most basic of martial arts training will teach you how to plant a 600lb back kick right to his 500lb chest. People from my class have sent 100lb heavy bag into the ceiling, and they weigh less than I do. Give me a break. Martial arts wastes wrestling any day.

I love how Dave put it a while back...

I'm convinced now that half the guys on these forums here are mall ninjas.

Well if you think so... MMA is usually a very good balance of Wrestling and Martial Arts. Don't knock wrestling, I know a hundred guys who would grab the legs out from under you before you could kick them. If that Big ass dude braced himself and then grabbed the kicking foot- they'd hit the ceiling.

Yeah I don't know how it turned into a martial arts is better than wrestling thread.

I was there when Royce Gracie fought Yokozuna, it can happen, but it would be foolish to think that it would be an easy fight.

The thread sucked when it was about a fake fighter. It's better now that it's about real fighting.

I've been training with a buddy of mine Tom G who has studied with the Gracies and currently trains in closed bare knuckle sessions with Santino DeFranco over at Tempe's Arizona Combat Sports!  I had no idea i would get so caught up in this like I have!

Here is the vid of Akebono losing to Rickson Gracie.  Like Mark Anderson said, patience and the effectiveness of positioning, body control, and technique wins out over strength in the end!  But I'll still kick his ass though!  HA!

Great study aid and have more if you guys would like to see them.

That's the video I was talking about, awesome display. I still wouldn't try it, the difference between any of the Gracies and us, is that they have many years of training. Anyone of us can be all mall ninja on the boards, but I wouldn't be surprised if discretion gets the better of valor in a real life situation.

Matt Houghes beat up gracie. And it wasn't luck. All I'm saying is that a well rounded figher could take out the Gracies.

EDIT: okay that sounds a little different than I was going for. Preety much when Gracie was fighting  in the MMA it was style vs. style. Now, everyone know allitle this and allitle that, and its alot harder to submit someone. Thats why I think Gracie would not be as great if he had to fight against fighers in the MMA today.

Ok, When Gixser said most people here are mall ninja's he was refering "wanna be ninja's" Also you could have all the trainning in the world in Wrestling, MMA, Muay Thai choose your art.  There comes a point when size outweights skill never let anyone tell you different. I take martial arts and any martial artist would know look for an advantage. Your adavantage VS. The Big Show or anyone Half of his size is speed and agility, You guessed it running away. Also even kicking him he has such great mass.

Use Newton's Third Law: Whenever one object exerts a force on a second object, the second object exerts an equal and opposite force on the first object. So your 600lb kick to a guy that is 500lb+ will to him feel like 100lbs of force. Also you feel as if your foot just hit a 500lb brick, because also stated in Newton's Law. You can only feel the forces being exerted on you, not the forces you exert on something else. So, it is the force his body is exerting on you that you see and feel in your hand.

Hope this helps all you.

In a situation where there were rules, yes I agree Hughes kicks Hoyce's ass. But in a life or death situation I'm less inclined to believe that Hoyce would take it up the butt.

Also Cochise, thanks for making my point, if he were a man of roughly the same size (+/- 2-3 inches and +/- 25lbs.) as myself I would think I'd have a better chance, but when the man is a foot taller and 2.5 times my own weight, common sense would kick in.
