Title: OP: Irene, Sept. 23-25
Post by: Airsofter1 on July 27, 2005, 08:47:28 PM
For those that don't know, this game is put on by the same guy that does Op: Lion Claws series.  Arizona fielded almost a whole platoon at this past LC4.

This event is going to be held at an unbelievalbe MOUT training facility used by the US Army at Ft. Knox, KY.
I am planning on attending.  I will be close by, er, well closer than AZ is anyway... to Ft Knox, KY around that time of September.  I have already mentioned it to a few here, but I wanted to throw this out there and see who else would be interested and able to go.  Show of hands?  Go to www.oplionclaws.com (http://www.oplionclaws.com) for more info.

Why must you torture me? You know I'll be gone!!! Its okay, I get to play military too, just mine isn't as fun.

(What the hell? Every time there is an urban op, my fantasy airsoft game, I can never go. I hate you guys.

You'll get your share of MOUT toward the end of BCT, bro.  Benning has a decent MOUT facility as well.

Now, the question is whether or not I want to throw down the ginormous ammount of cash to go to this sweet game!

Any details on when registration opens or the cost of the event?  I'm interested, but I need more details to determine if going is a possibility.
Title: start planning now!

If you really think you can go, start looking for tickets now.  They will only get more expensive the longer you wait.  Looks like Hector will be in the neighborhood that time of year also.  We will both be driving from seperate "undisclosed locations".

I have no idea on when registration will open up or the cost it will be.  But I would imagine the cost will be clsoe to what we paid for Lion Claws.

School just started, so it might be a pain, and that's not a long time to plan, in my opinion. Specially, for probly needing to fly out there. I need moneys!!

Sell some gear, dude.

Here's the deal - I thought about it and decided this is too cool to miss.  I need to sell some stuff, but as long as I don't have anything scheduled for that weekend already (ie something for Uncle Sugar), I'll be linking up with my MF/AA bros on the east coast and we can roll together.

Mike, Hector, whattya say?

Not to get off topic, but I told Beth to NOT send me the Range Vest, and she accidentally did.. charged for it too. That makes 5 fucking rigs, 6 in a month. I might sell one or two things, just for this.

I'm going out on a limb here to say that, if they do indeed charge similarly to past Best of USA Marketing events, it will be in the 120-130 range.  Less for BofUSA event "veterans."

Nate, you actually bought one of those Range Vests?   :P
Either way, it's crye, so it will sell.  Put it on LF and prepare for a torrent of PMs!

Post by: Greg on July 28, 2005, 09:56:43 AM
Ya, Nate, sell whichever set of MC bdu's you don't like as much and all but one or two of your expensive rigs. (I say expensive to specifically not include the ones you made. You probably put too much work into those to sell them.) After selling all of the stuff that you aren't going to be using anymore, you'd be able to fly most of AA to Irene first class!

I seriously would like to go, but my schedule is currently up in the air. I'm pretty sure that I will be free to do something like this in Sept, though.

Has anyone looked at tickets yet? SWA looks like it will be about $250 round trip if booked soon.

Or just me on some exotic airplane with plenty of naked chicks.

And damnit, that range vest is kickass, christian. I'm gonna wear it once or twice at the 30th. It's got everything you need for minor use. Hydra pack, side webbing, all of it.. too bad they sold it to me when I said not to.
But.. it works for me. I'll live!

I might sell the satch, Greg! And.. I'm keeping both of the bdu sets. Ones got the feild top, ones got the combat top.. works fer meh! Should I post pics.. they're just about here..

Back on topic, what team are you guys intending to be on? Delta, or Charlie?

If you're new to airsoft, or traveling.. take a year to learn the sport. I took a year, I skipped LC3.

And, cancel everything I said. I mean.. I'd fly there, meet who at the aiport? I can't get a car.. since I'm not 21, I wouldn't know where to go, etc. I'd be so lost. Money wouldn't be the issue.. the plane ticket there and back would do just fine, but everything else, I'd screw up on, and end up at like.. Ny, Ny.

How about renting a mini van?  27 hours, 14 minutes Total Est. Distance: 1868.97 miles If we get   4 guys your looking at 360-400 dollars in gas
plus another $325-375 for suv/mini van

So 4 guys your still talking 200 bux apiece, but you dont have to rent a car when we get there!

We wont have to ship our gear

Only thing is the 27 hour drive and with stops your talking 30-32 hours on the road
Title:
Post by: Mugen on July 28, 2005, 07:30:25 PM
but if you take turns driving, you wouldnt have to stop and rest...sleep in the van.  Just stop to clean up..and eat.

An idea if you wish an RV. No stopping just only for gas and the dump station. Thats an idea that my family has used in the past. The RV has been across the us twice over the time we've had it. So its an idea.

6 people is the total cap for traveling in a 24ft class C. gas will be a pain, propane, heading to dump station. I have an RV in the yard, but its too large for me to move around the house.

1992 ford e-350, class C 24ft, Tioga montara special. last used 8 months ago.

EDit . with 6 people thats near 1300 for gas, food, supplies. and a lot of humanwaste.

So far its looking like 6 of us for sure and about 6 more "maybe" AZ'ns.  John Lu is letting vet players register early to guarantee their spots.

Thats shouldn't be a problem Dave.  If your planning on flying out there you might be able to find tickets for around $200-250.  I am planning on shipping my airsoft guns to where I will be at the time and drive with them from there.  Call me and we can talk some more about this.

For the really cheap-minded, there's always Greyhound, get an Ameripass and brush up on your spanish, to boot.

Or... Ever hear of auto driveaway? You deliver a car/truck to the part of the country you wish to go. Might even have it for the few days you're at the field.

Worth a shot.

It's kind of on the other side of the country.

Fly/drive what the hell just get there and kick ASS.

driveing to KY from AZ takes about 5 to 7 days.
the Flight time is about 7 to 8 hrs.
hmm cramped plane with small seating/speed or cramped car with small seating/group of gunho airsofters/with own food&ways to cook it.hence RV / 5th wheel.

romes_empire you a bit worried about flying solo, grab a map learn the area. dude no parents/evil siblings. but few cranky people on the plane.

Good luck with that, Jeff!  I'm sure it depends on the classes you take, but I had my hands full with 16 credits when I was in college.  Throw a job on top, and you got yourself very, VERY little time for fun stuff.  It's fun, though.  I really can't wait to get back to school.

Lol. thanks Romes_empire.
I meant driveing an RV, its carrying more weight, fuels, that stuff. top speed without cross wind, 65 to 75mph. and semis pushing ya around.

but on the over hand the others are talking about driveing at nearly 90+mph. good luck on the fuel effincent car, hehe. not a hybrid clocked at 45mpg, hence my father owns one. or my cruiser with nice ass seats with 26mpg. or some other car or truck i dont know about with better gas mileage.

azsarge - vet
Raven1 - vet
Gixser13 - vet
WickedMpact - vet
Studdermonkey - vet

This is jus a list of who want to go.  Many of us still need to figure out if we can go.  I am 100% sure I am going though.

I would like to get as many of us pre-registered as a team, so if you are a vet of any of the past LC series games let me know.  Public registration opens in a couple of weeks I believe and I would like to get this in before then.

Title:
Post by: gixser13 on August 02, 2005, 07:04:35 PM
I wouldnt go with a group larger then 6

Gas all depend on how many and what your driving
its safe to say 200 bux per person if four go
and 150 if 6 go

your talking 1890 one way so round trip 3780

if you drive something that gives you 20 MPG
thats 472 dollars for gas
Title:
Post by: studdermonkey on August 02, 2005, 07:19:24 PM

That is a constant 65mph average, I know that you can not average a constant 65mph.  I would definately figure on 2 days at least for travel time with the numbers provided. There are many things that can easily eat up time, that can be forseen and unforseen.  Better to have a bit of a safety or fudge factor.

Here is one service flat fee for up to 4 = $10 each

I have a friend who lives there - I'll have them look into the base shuttle. But $10 per person isn't bad either.

You need to be 18 for this.  You need to have a parental release form signed by someone attending this event and your parents.  This form needs to be notorized and brought with you to the event.  The Op attendee that signs this form will be taking responisblity for you at the event.  That being said I would be very unlikely to sign off for someone that I only know on the forums.

So my Question is could the parent Sponsor/Sign off for us, or does the sponsor need to be participating?  (If the child whos parents who are not attending just sign over power of attorney)

If the parent is going to be there, they have to be playing. No friends or family.

I believe the rules and waiver are now posted at www.oplionclaws.com (http://www.oplionclaws.com)    Reg is only open to vets at the moment. PM airsofter1 (Mike) for further.

Vince is correct.  No spectators allowed - friends and family included.  This is a very serious mil-sim event, not just another run n' gun weekend game.  I am not trying to discourage you Cochise116, just trying to give you an idea as to the scale of this event.

Thanks for being so understanding. Operations like this are usualy an 18+ thing. I'm sure, many people wish it was 21+.

But.. who wants 16 year olds runnin' and gunnin? Eww.. :P

Just Kiddin'
