I will agree that a "THICK" type of face wrapping is fine, (i.e. a padded balaclave or a shemagh(?) wrapped about the face)

As for the partial mask .... if you take a paintball mask and cut the lower covering at the center of the eyes on each side and then remove those sections over th cheek that is acceptable as partial face cover.

This covers the nose and the mouth but leaves the cheeks open for availablility of sight usage with the weapon.

Thanks for the clarification Bucket, it is highly appreciated.

Vince, does that answer your question?

Personally, I'm running out to get a padded balaclava.

Is this open to people that aren't in a club?  I paid the AA fee but haven't filled out a form yet.  I'm interested in going out and have all the equipment; just curious.

Also, what time is this going to be going down?

Warlock,
Do we pay our fee at the field or do we need to pay it in advance at PBHQ?
Also likewise for the waivers?

Oh I am so going to be there.

And frankly, I'd recommend full face protection... especially since this is someone else's land AND our first time playing here.  It is imperative that we make a good impression if we are to have the opportunity to play here continually.

And besides, the small ammount of discomfort you will have wearing a paintball mask far outweighs the discomfort from a ruptured eye or a broken tooth.  ;)

I can also think of a lot better things I'd like to be doing than applying first aid to someone who skimped on safety equipment.   :?

You can buy a paintball mask with a built in face fan, keeps you cool and keeps the mask from fogging, I usually carry a spare pair of glasses, so once I'm in the "no fire area" I put those on, you never can tell when somebody has an AD.

I'm surprised Sudden Impact (the name of the field) isn't madating, barrel plugs, socks, or something to block the end of the barrel??

Fee gets paid at the field, along with the waivers.

They are.  I think Warlock forgot to add it.

So make sure you have some kind of barrel sock or plug for when you leave the field.

Actually, he said that our rule of mags out, safety on would be sufficient.

Unfortunately when I was thinking about it, I think most AEGs automatically chamber the next round, so even with the mag out if you have an accidental discharge you will put a pellet out. Granted it would be only one, would have to be a lucky shot, but seriously someone here ask DeadEye what he thinks the chances of that happening are.

So - mag out - point muzzle down and discharge. Better safe and empty than sorry and defending in court later....

Edit: hey would the wire mesh masks be ok to wear?

Hey, just think though... how often does a gun get "accidentally discharged" in the DZ's at our regular AO's?

Yeah... not to often.  I don't think we'll have to much of a problem (plus guns are usually pointed towards the ground in the DZ).  There's always chance... but not likely in this case.

As long as there is ANSI Z87.1 rated eyewear underneath, yes.

And don't worry about having only a pistol. There isn't a possibility that anyone would be out of range for a gas pistol, considering the dimensions of the playing field (80x60ft). I myself plan on using my pistols primarily (they don't fire as close to 350 as my AEGs do), and maybe warming things up with an AEG, moving to pistols for better/easier coverage.
