But, How many people carry a sidearm without a permit(not concealed on your side)
ME FOR ONE.....
-
Is there any official website where I can read all the laws about carrying guns in AZ? I cant get my CCW until I move, so Id like to read the laws in the mean time.
-
You only have to be 18 to carry open and you don't even need a permit. Now if only I had a pistol.
-
But you cant purchase a pistol unless you are 21 correct? Rick
-
Correct.

Ive had a CCW for over 2 years now...it makes buying guns a little easier.I never liked open carry. Some people trip out when they see a gun on your side.I rather no one know.
-
Shifty, I actually have exactly the opposite problem when I carry mine. People act like it is not there. I don't know how many times old ladies and such have cut in front of me in a line, even though I had a pistol on my hip.
As for the laws with open carry in AZ, it boils down to. 1: Don't conceal it 2: Don't take it into any place that serves alcohol for consumption on Premisis, or any place that has a sign asking you not to carry it.(I have seen these broke many times) 3: Don't be an idiot, if some store owner asks you to leave your gun outside or not come it, don't make a scene. It only makes gun owners look bad.

Um, I just thought of this. . . The department of Public Saftey is not supposed to keep track of our Permit information after they run the background checks!! So my question is how legal is this information they have and how specific does it get??
-
Any time you get fingerprinted by a gov't agency, your prints will be in their records. There will probably be a note about why you got printed. I've been printed about 5 times. If someone ran a background check on me, they should all show up. I think the system is called AFIS.

They probably keep statistics like these. I mean, they could easily check to see how many permits they've given out, right? And I don't see how it would be a problem if it didn't have your name attached to it.

I've had a permit in NY for 10 years, and got my AZ permit two weeks after I moved here. That was 5 1/2 years ago.
Joey, why do you have to wait to move before you can get your permit? The law is the same whether you're in Prescott or Phoenix.
-
Im waiting because Im really busy right now, and will be moved in about 3 weeks.

bad sign or no?
you know how most people when they hit 21 all they can think about is drinking and strippers and such? well when i think about hitting 21 i know i can buy a pistol and get a CCW. and then i think about beer ect. my friend dad used to carry his glock out in the open, but he was in a bad part of phoenix.

I know of one couple where the wife got a CCW license because her husband got one, and it was in case he left a weapon in the car, she would be legal.
-
Technically, if you buy a handgun third-party, you only have to be 18, primarily because "The Man" can't trace person-to-person exchanges. I've never done one, but did get lucky enough to "inherit" or be "gifted" two handguns of my own (neither of which would make for good CCW, one because of caliber, the other because of size). But a large gun is better than no gun at all. But, being only 18, that's not a poblem, since all I can do it carry open, which I've yet to try (no holster).
