General Off-Topic Discussion / An Explanation is in order....
« on: June 13, 2006, 05:32:34 PM »
I have been asked why I exploded on the under 16 post. By the way, sorry everyone for that. I was out of line and knew it when I did it, no excuses.
It started at the paintball field in Tuscon when a member of the Marauders left me out of air and alone in the middle of a firefight because my co2 tank was "too cold". We were pinned down and I needed the help so I could continue to lay covering fire for other members of our team. The tank was unscrewed by un-named Marauder, then the dude dissapeared. I leaned forward to remove my pack to attach an fresh co2  and died. I was upset, not for getting shot, but how it all came about. Never leave a man pinned, alone. IMO. I was over it.
Then I was invited to a private Marauders training excercise a few months ago. I was cool with this and it sounded fun. I had a good time. After this I never heard from them again. Ok, no prob.
I go to games, all but one member ignore, glare, and just plain avoid me. Whatever.
Then LCV. I made an attempt to say something to Doug, doesnt even acknowledge me. Ok, im cool with that too.
What pissed me off is that all this time I never got the respect of an explanation from any of them about wtf the problem was. If I dont know whats going on then we cant resolve it. Then, all of a sudden, Doug pipes up in the middle of my topic on the issue I had with minors posting on the forum, not minors in airsoft, and got me into the dispute over it. At that point all of the feelings and opinions I had formed about the Marauders and thier integrity turned to anger. Deeper issues with lack of respect are part of my issue with them also. All this made me snap.
Out of respect for everyone I will make sure I maintain here.

General Off-Topic Discussion / Admin. block out under 16!!!
« on: June 03, 2006, 07:35:50 AM »
Please do us all a huge favor and block the under 16 kids from this forum. Nothing usefull or constructive has come from any of these little bastards. They are destroying threads, polluting the board with uselessness. Most adults on this board would agree i am sure. Its frustrating and down right annoying.......Airsoft is and ADULT hobby. Its not paintball dammit.

Reviews / SRC $70.00 ver. 2 complete gearbox, Update 2
« on: March 26, 2006, 04:46:23 PM »
I recently pieced together a m4 from various pieces, new and used. Well, mostly used, trying to get the most "bang for the buck" After scrounging most pieces it was time to decide on a gearbox.
SRC offers a complete gearbox for the m4 for 69.00 at JT. In stock form it comes with metal gears and plastic bushings. Not to shabby and probably would last a long time as long as it wasnt abused with too much voltage.
I planned on running 9.6 volts so I opted to have the bushings changed to metal and the top gear changed for insurance(Thanks Jerimiah) If memory serves this added about 15.00 to the price of the new gearbox.
As for performance, flawless! It worked great. Runs very smooth and shot 355fps with .20 on a stock spring. I am running a classic army motor/grip, metal body with a one piece hop-up.

So far I would say its a good and worthy purchase for the 70.00 price.
I will update as I put some hours on it and possibly further upgrades.

Pros:
Cheap
upgradeable
available
Apparent reliability
interchangability
metal gears

Cons:
Plastic bushings
Weak (supposedly) top gear

Now that I have run it a few games here are some updates on the box:

If you wanna run 9.6, install steel gears. I chewed up a Marui gear with my Classic Army BB motor and 9.6.
Upgrade the cylinder head or o-rings. When we changed the gear and cleaned it up the SRC o-rings lost seal. FPS dropped 50fps. They suck!
Other than a couple minor things, it still was a worthy purchase.

Reviews / Pipers M134A & A2 minigun UPDATED!!
« on: January 17, 2006, 05:23:28 PM »
All I have to say is Minigun. This thing is the coolest thing I currently own next to my Harley. A good substitue for a real one at 5600.00 (who has a class 3 and 300,000 dollars to burn, not to mention it costs roughly $150.00+ a minute to shoot a real minigun at 3000spm)
Loads of fun and a cool conversation piece.

It fires both 6mm plastic and 6mm steel without changing inner barrels. With an adjustable regulator it can shoot as high as 600fps with .20s with good accuracy and range.

I have not yet had the chance to crank up the psi and shoot steel yet but I am told it can do some damage  .

(update)ROF is between 45 to 50 rps

Internal hopper ammo capacity M134A=1500, M134A2=5800

Barrels spun electrically by 14.4v motor/battery. BBs are propelled by regulated external air source.

Pros:
 High rate of fire
 Good range/accuracy (long tighbore barrels)
 Fps adjustablility/ammo versitility
 Intimidation and wow factor
 Battery life
Can be a fixed or carried weapon with proper attachment
Very realistic, 95% metal with spinning, independently firing barrels
 Very low maintenence

Cons:
 High rate of fire
Loading during skirmish is a pain, takes an extra person and a funnel(update: found the excell bb bottles remedy this problem)
Expensive (the new ones are $5600, for the gun alone!)
Heavy, gun alone weighs 35lbs, not to mention the air supply/gear can be 30+lbs also
 M134A's limited internal ammo capacity(1500) the A2 is improved(5800)
Have to carry external air source
 Internals are not owner serviceable
 No hop-up

Real Firearms / Minigun feed chute
« on: December 24, 2005, 03:57:06 PM »
Well I got feelers out everywhere else so why not here.
I am looking for 5 to 7 feet of GE M134 - GAU 2b/a (7.62) minigun feed chute in decent condition. It only needs to have the gun attaching end. The magazine end can be missing. Thanks!
