Just thought I wold pass it along.

The 5th Western CMP Games and the 2008 Creedmoor Cup Match will be co-sponsored
by the Civilian Marksmanship Program and Creedmoor Sports and hosted by the
Arizona State Rifle & Pistol Association at Phoenix, Arizona on 11-19
October 2008. The Western CMP Games Matches will take place on 11-14 October.
The Creedmoor Cup Matches take place on 15-19 October. All interested shooters,
including new shooters, experienced competitors, recreation-oriented shooters
and national championship contenders, are invited to participate in these
    unique, national-level competitions.

The 5th Western CMP Games will kick off with a New Shooter Clinic on Saturday,
11 October. This year the clinic will be held in the morning so that a 200-yard
Garand-Springfield-Vintage Military Rifle Match can be fired that afternoon.  On
Sunday, 12 October, there will be a Garand-Springfield-Vintage Military Rifle
Match in the morning. That afternoon, there will be a new event on the schedule,
a Rimfire Sporter Match.  Competitors can fire in both the G-S-M Rifle Match and
the Rimfire Sporter Match.  Shooting opportunities on the third day, Monday, 13
October, have also been expanded. There will be a third
Garand-Springfield-Vintage Military Rifle Match that morning followed by an M1
Carbine Match that afternoon.  Competitors will also be able to fire in both
events, the G-S-M Rifle Match and the M1 Carbine Match.  The Western CMP Games
Matches conclude on Tuesday, 14 October, with an As-Issued M1 Garand Special EIC
Match where shooters who do not have any EIC points can earn introductory
    "4-point legs."

The 2008 Western Creedmoor Cup Matches begin with a highpower rifle clinic on
Wednesday, 15 October, and then offer four days of matches for service rifles
and match rifles on 16-19 October. Members of the
    U. S. Army and U. S. Marine Corps Service Rifle Teams and Team Bushmaster will
be on hand to assist with the clinic and subsequently compete in the matches.
The matches include a 50-shot National Match Course practice match on Thursday,
a 4-person team match on Friday, the 80-shot Creedmoor Cup Match on Saturday and
a 50-shot EIC/Match Rifle course on Sunday. Creedmoor Sports will host a
barbecue and prize drawing with many thousands of dollars worth of prizes on
    Saturday, 18 October.

Staff from CMP Distribution Center at Anniston, Alabama will bring a truckload
of M1 Garands and Carbines plus M2 ball ammunition to the Western Games so that
competitors can inspect and tag rifles for purchase.

Shooters who want detailed information about the events on the program should

National Youth Shooting Sports Leadership Conference.  Junior shooting coaches
and club leaders, whether they work at beginning, intermediate or advanced
levels, are invited to attend the 2008 National Youth Shooting Sports Leadership
Conference at Camp Perry, Ohio on 26-28 September.  The conference is an annual
opportunity, organized by CMP, NRA and USA Shooting, for junior shooting leaders
to catch up on the latest coaching techniques and junior program ideas.  The
list of presenters includes Ralf Horneber, Sport Director of Germany's
Bavarian Sport Shooting Federation, National Rifle Coach David Johnson, USA
Shooting's Bob Foth, NRA's Marcus Raab and CMP Director Gary Anderson.
Johnson and Anderson will have eyewitness reports on shooting and the USA's
successes in the Beijing Olympics.  Plus there is always plenty of time to
network with junior leaders from around the country and learn from them.  The
conference will take place in the new CMP conference facilities and 80-point
electronic target air gun range at Camp Perry.   During the week preceding the
conference, there are a series of rifle, pistol and shotgun coach training
courses available. The detailed Conference program is posted at
    http://www.odcmp.com/programs/youthleadership.htm.  Register on-line now at
    http://clubs.odcmp.com/cgi-bin/matchInf ... tchID=3793.  For additional
