Marushin M1 Garand....questions and about games in AA
« on: April 24, 2006, 08:24:38 AM »
I really am fallin in love with this rifle the more I read about it...
I really want to try gettin into airsoft also and go out and play some games in AZ.
I was wondering could this rifle be useful in games ... despite all the AEG's everyone has and all that.
I wonder if the rifle is even legal in the games, its single shot and puts out I believe 300fps with .35g 8mm bb's - I believe that puts it within your sniper category of guns so 50ft would apply no?
I already own a GBB Desert Eagle LOL talk about era inconsitency =P
I may get a M1911 just to match my guns era.

But in the end, Im wondering if I get good with this gun, if it will be suffecient for games here in az, and that I wont be "laughed" if Im showing up with it hehe.
I read other forums where a few people love it in gameplay and have gotten really good with reloading and catching their clips ...

Also, even tho its not era correct I could still wear all the new military gear right? instead of hunting down WW2 gear...

anyways let me know =)
I read through the FAQ and AZ gameplay rules, I love it all hehe...gonna read them again sometime.
Airsoft seems so freakin fun.

A .35g BB going 300 fps is equivalent to a .2g BB going 400 fps. If it fires between 300 and 375 fps it would be qualified as a sniper rifle.

Remember that this rifle shoots 8mm bb's...the difference in mass may change the formula for determining the Joules.  Not sure....but I know an 8mm bb traveling at 500 FPS feels different than an 6mm at the same velocity.

Maybe...

An 8mm BB feels different than a 6mm BB at the same velocity because 8mm BBs are heavier. I don't think the size of the bb will matter, especially for a difference that small.

Crap...I forgot the Gram weight is the same...so the Joules would be the same.    I had to take physics 3 times.

All you get is a 8mm welt instead of a 6mm one.

8mm bb's have a higher drag due to increased profile area.

i really doubt anyone would laugh at your for having this gun. i also really doubt anyone would mind if your gun didnt 'match' your outfit. just play, thats all that matters.

i was thinking. if you're be willing to spend that kind of money on a m1 garand, you should get a tanaka kar98k. it doesnt require 8mm bbs, its in the same price range, and personally i think its a sweeter rifle. unless the point of you wanting the m1 is because you want to use 8mm...just a thought.

It also shoots way over 500 FPS, even with 134A. Or so I've heard.

i heard it didn't, i heard it shoots hard tho! but it is to make a great sniper rifle, a friend is considering it but he can't find a good scope for it, the Kar98 one sux i heard! but the M1 is a beautiful rifle, and even Gen. Patton himself it won the war! but if you would like WWII uniform i think Vincint is it....his name is grinadier somthing on the forums has one, pm him would be my advice. but that would be tight i want one myself but rather not spend the money personaly

Well in arnieairsoft forums...they actually have the clocked values and one guy experienced anywhere from 340-400fps with it, was inconsistant at first..then averaged out after the gun was broken in after 100 rounds.

But Im just wondering mainly, with everyone running around with AEG's would a semi auto even be viable?
maybe backup for a sniper or something?
