Deciding on what brand M16A3, help...
« on: November 25, 2010, 11:44:18 PM »
Sorry for asking the age old question, "which is better" but I’ve looked on the forum and on the web and find very different opinions on these brands, and my only real experience is with ICS. So I figured I try to get some input from people that have actually handled or owned one. My plan is to convert it into a DMR riffle with an extended barrel that shoots around 500fps after upgrading the spring. The four brands I am looking at are:

VFC "E" Series M16

G&G GR16  M16A3

ICS/OLYMPIC ARMS M16A3

KWA M16 Battle Rifle 2GX

well... if you don't want to do any upgrading yourself, go kwa and never look back.

g&g's are mod friendly, and good performers out of the box as well.

Unless you sold your ICS, just get another upper for it.  That was half the reason you originally got it anyways, right?

if you want a full second DMR, just get a sportline ICS and upgrade the internals for a high-power pull as well as a hop unit and barrel. i wouldn't spend money on the kwa unless you want something ready to rock ~400FPS/lipo/NOT-a-dmr right out of the box (within reason)

i love my recently aquired sportline, i haven't had any compatability issues yet as far as aftermarket parts go *crosses fingers*

I've had experience with KWA, VFC, and G&G. If you want to do a bunch of mods and parts swapping I would start cheaper off the jump with the G&G. KWA are great to leave stock. I consider them like Toyota; the only thing that will go wrong with them is something someone f'ed with.
